Just seen this and I hope you've had some sort of response elsewhere. If not, I can tell you that I've got 758s fitted on my boxeye and they don't foul the fairing, but it does depend on the angle you mount them, the levers can come close.
The problem you may have is that 758s don't give you much of a raise in hight, so you won't get a may not get a more comfortable riding position. Although I'm happy with the Renthals, which are wider, IMHO i think the standard bars were better for comfort.

Thanks for the responses. For anyone else who finds themselves in this position, you may not drive a motor vehicle for one calender month after a stroke. After that you should follow the advice of you doctor, they may wish to carry out checks before giving you the all-clear, depending on how bad the stroke was.
You are advised to notify your insurance provider. I was surprised at how laid back about it both car and bike insurers were. As far as they're concerned, Unless the doctor decides I'm unfit to drive, i've notified them an that's the end of the matter.

I had a stroke on on 4th June, and now I'm out of hospital, I'm in the process of notifying my insurance provider and starting rehab, with all the concerns about how life-changing this is going to be.
Has anyone else any experience of riding after a stroke? Particularly the attitude of insurerers.
Any help much appreciated!

If the bike's running smoothly and with the milage you're doing, I can see no reason why you couldn't leave it for at least another year.
When you get it looked at you'll probably find, like most of us, that nothing needs doing!

TBH I think you'll be lucky to get anywhere near your asking price unless you're prepared to wait a long time. I recently sold my Gen 1, similar milage and with plenty of work done to it. I finally got a buyer, but I had to deal with a lot of idiots, and I got nowhere near what I initially asked.

I had a full Micron system on my old 600, never had any problems with it. (Apart from not polishing it often enough!)

The saga continues!
I thought I'd try wewantyourmotorbike.com, just to see what they'd offer. Turns out they don't, milage is too high for them, they put you on to motorbike trader.co.uk (looks like the same company) also not interested.
Anyway, I contacted bikesanctuary.co.uk, they didn't respond at all initially, when I phoned them they claimed their own website form had gone to their junk folder. Finally got an offer from them, about what I expected from a dealer, which I accepted to avoid the c*nts I've been dealing with.
However, piss-up and brewery come to mind. They are obviously a new firm and totally disorganised, so as big a waste of time as the others!
Upshot is that the bike remains available and if anyone on here is interested, they could get a very good deal!

Thanks for the responses. I have to admit it's a long time since I sold a bike this way, but at least when I did it before I got some replies from genuine buyers. This time every reply seems to be from an arsehole. Although I've already got another bike, so don't need to PX it, I may try these people www.bikesanctuary.co.uk who buy bikes and also, supposedly, will sell your bike from their dealership. Anyone had any dealings with them?

Is it just me or have others had this?
I put the Gen1 on the market a couple of weeks ago and I've had nothing but chancers offering well below the asking price and expecting me to deliver it to locations miles away, or time wasters who make reasonable offers, but then don't seem to be able to come up with the money and just disappear.
I'm in the fortunate position that I don't have to sell the bike, but I don't like the idea of it just sitting in the garage.
Is this a common experience?

Silly me, I was warned that once they get past 50K miles the price of a bike drops, no matter what condition it's in. So I've reduced the price to £1750.

My much-loved US-spec Fazer 1000 is for sale. I've only done about 1500 miles in the last 2 years, so the bike's not getting used and I'm hoping somebody will get as much enjoyment out of it as I have in the last 10 years of ownership.2004, 52k, colour is DPBMC, Northampton/Wellingborough, £1750Non-standard specs:

- Street-fighter, standard & Zero Gravity DB screens
Comes with lots of original parts including centre stand, indicators, can, rear light, footrests. The bike is in VGC for age and mileage and runs and rides very well. The only downer is an intermittent fault to the fuel gauge.

When I start my '04 Gen 1 from cold the fuel gauge acts normally, gently rising and staying stable barring the usual slight movements when accelerating/decelerating.
After a few miles, however, the needle starts to flap around from full to empty and all points between, as if there's no damping.
As the gauge and sender seem to be OK on startup I suspect the wires between, but I've cleaned all the connectors to no effect.
Anyone had similar problems, or any ideas for a solution?

Blimey, you didn't keep that one for long!
I'm not sure how much a Cat D makes a difference to the price of a bike of this age, especially as it happened 10+ years ago. Most bikers looking at bikes like this know that cosmetic write-offs are not uncommon and you often end up with a better bike because of it: more work has gone into it and lots of new parts have gone on.
Personally I think you could have asked for more.

It is tatty, but I've seen worse at the price. It's whether you can live with it being tatty!
The jobs you've listed are mainly standard service items that you'd be doing at some point on most bikes of this age, so it really is up to you how worried you are about the cosmetics.
Having looked at Fazers for sale on MCN, Gumtree, Autotrader and ebay there are others around, but the better ones are more expensive, as expected.
You will, of course, want newer/faster soon, but in a few years time you'll find yourself thinking 'I wish I'd kept the Fazer...' I know I do!

That's a good point about prices. I've been keeping an eye on FZS600 prices the past couple of months and most of the ones at the lower price havent been great. Good ones seem to have been advertised nearer to £2k.
Maybe it's the time of year plus people wanting cheaper transport maybe???
I thought there would be a lot of 600s on the market because of the ULEZ in London and that would bring prices down, but that doesn't seemed to have happened so far. If anything, around £2k seems to be the average for anything decent and even Bandits are silly money for ones in good nick. I think the days of bikes going for hundreds rather than thousands are over for the time being but you may see prices drop a bit if you're prepared to wait until the end of summer. It all depends what you want the bike to be. Do you want something that'll just get you around or do you want it to be the best it can be? If it's not going to be a 'keeper' you need to think hard about how much you're going to have to spend above the initial price because you're not going to get the benefit of the spending or add much to the resale value.

Having been looking at 600 Fazers recently, it may be my imagination but prices seem to be creeping upwards.
Compared to some I've seen, £1400 is not the end of the world, but doesn't sound like mates-rates to me.
You said in your earlier posts that you've got a budget for some parts, but if you plan on keeping the bike for a while (and you probably will when you find out how good they are!) you'll end up spending more, which gives you a much wider range of bikes to look at.
It just depends on whether you want a bike that's already done or you want to do it up to your own specs.
