Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Engine oil - grade and brand?
« on: 11 March 2014, 08:54:36 am »
If using Motul, either go for full synth, like 7100 (no need for the expensive 300V). If going semi-synth, avoid Motul (the 5100), get some other brand, e.g. Silkolene, Bel Ray etc. 5100 costs more than it is worth IMO, or Serbia gets a bad batch of it.

Thanks guys, I used 7100 in a big bore 434cc DRZ with no probs at all. So fully synth is OK to use with the thou?

This is just an interim change anyway, will get the bike fully serviced in May for a 2k european trip early June...

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Engine oil - grade and brand?
« on: 10 March 2014, 09:03:00 pm »
Hi all,
Planning a first oil change at the weekend and was wondering what grade and brand is favourite? I've had a couple of thumpers over the last few years and always used Motul 10/40 but not sure if any good for my Fazer thou. Also, fully or semi synth?

Cheers!

Thanks will have a look at those as well. I've seen the Fuel ones on eBay.

Thanks guys, I have seen those on eBay so definitely an option. I presume they're for road use with the DB killer and would pass the mot without any probs?

Cheers

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Alternative can to Scorpion?
« on: 24 February 2014, 09:23:07 pm »
Hi all, have been riding my 03 Fazer thou for a week and am finding it a bit difficult to live with the Scorpion can that came with the bike - it's a bit too loud for my liking.

Judging by the photo, there isn't any way of fitting a DB killer as there was on a Scorpion I had on an old DRZ supermoto.

I'm doing a 2k European trip in the summer and would like a can that's a bit less intrusive....any suggestions?

Introduction / First Fazer and hi from Kent

Hi all,
Just bought my first Fazer and am delighted with it so far. It's a Fazer thou on an 03 plate, although it has high-ish mileage - 52k - it's very, very clean and has been well maintained - all the stamps in the book, a stack of receipts and old MoTs.

It's a do everything bike for me: local commuting, weekend toy and tourer - planning a 2k mile european trip with a few mates in June.

Below are some pics, it needs a wash as it p****d down when I collected it last night. First impressions are very comfy, very quick and stable - much more engaging ride than my last bike, a ZX6R...

Cheers and looking forward to being active on the forum.
