General / Official bike number statistics
« on: 04 March 2014, 11:09:06 am »
This very interesting, i never would of guessed this?
1) There are twice as many two-wheeled Hondas on the road as there are Kawasakis and Suzukis combinedThere are approximately a quarter of a million Honda motorcycles and scooters on the roads in the UK, or 77,000 more than the second-most numerous manufacturer, Yamaha (170,000). Third is Suzuki (143,200) and fourth Kawasaki (89,838). The top ten table looks like this:
1)Honda247,2092)Yamaha169,8093)Suzuki143,2004)Kawasaki89,8385)Triumph79,3686)BMW55,6567)Harley40,6638)Aprilia25,2869)Ducati18,23210)KTM13,283Figures drawn from DVLA data. These are the numbers of bikes and scooters registered by the DVLA as taxed or SORN. There will be bikes that haven’t been taxed since the SORN system was introduced in 1998; these will not show up in the figures. Although scooters are included in these figures, scooter manufacturers are not shown.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Gear change lever
« on: 16 January 2014, 08:56:01 pm »
I'm experiencing a very stiff gear selection,  this has only just happened on my ride home tonight.  Does anyone know if there is a bearing on the pivot point that connects to the foot peg?

Thanks In advance

« on: 01 January 2014, 08:29:13 am »
I had to go to work today so looked outside and the rain had stopped. Bike car bike car BIKE.  Flipping awesome,  the rain had stopped but the gutters were flowing heavy.  Its nearly 20 miles and mostly motorway but it was still fantastic.  Feeling the power of an Ivanised 1000 cc engine grunting from 50 to double that in a few seconds is amazing.  And at 5am the roads were practically empty. I just hope the run home is as much fun. Happy New year fellow foccers and all the best for 2014

General / I hate fog
« on: 11 December 2013, 05:01:11 am »
I checked the weather yesterday at half 4 before deciding to take the bike to work.  4°c at 5 this morning with a light mist. This translate's to -2°c and very thick fog. The thickest I've ever ridden in. Lucky a truck wss in front to guide me.  I hate fog. Bloody visor mists up straight away.

Message to all car, van and truck drivers. Please try to drive off line to spread grit around the road otherwise the grit builds up exactly where bikes ride. I even drive on the chevrons where its safe to do so to keep it from building up.

Hiya.
Not wanting to jump on Dead Eye's thread about his Tar problem i wanted to know from those in the know if anyone could recommend a fireplace and external Twin wall Stainless Steel flue installer around southern Hampshire. We're hoping to have one installed soon and i thought i'd ask in case anyone here did it or knew someone reputable?

Many thanks,  Mickey

General / Flappy mirror
« on: 02 December 2013, 10:47:54 am »
This is on my Gen 1 thou but must be generic.  Above a certain speed my near side mirror flips back. Does anyone have a clue how to tighten the hinge up? Annoyingly I have to manually fold this mirror back when parked in my garage. Its ok day to day, but on certain spirited rides and above certain speeds it flips back.

This is the comparison test I'm waiting for.  The Beemer even in top spec is £3000 cheaper.so it'll be affordable for me about 5 years earlier than the KTM?

My day off today so wake up at stupid o'clock (0347) and think that as the Mrs isn't up for another 3hours I'll make some good coffe, put some croissants in the oven and put yesterday's Moto GP on. All good, poor Rossi has a slip up but manages to stay on and POP, power cut. There seems to be power cuts or surges which make the main Fuse keep tripping out. The Virgin box doesn't like it either as I've just had to reset it. Hoping it doesn't screw up the hard drive?

« on: 22 October 2013, 05:21:13 am »
It's 5am and I'm in my kecks. Now I can hear the rain pississting down outside. Gotta decide whether to take the bike or the car? Jeans on or all that heavy old wet weather gear. Going is ok it's the coming that'll do me in.12 hours from now and I'll be sat in a cage with thousands of other lemmings and after a day of being cut up by cars whilst driving my truck the best antidote is my Fazer. Hey Ho, better get the gear on then, this bike won't ride its self. Within 10 minutes I'll have Song2 by Blur playing inside my head. Yehaa!
