shit i think i just got it - you said it struggled to start
if you cant see or feel the fuel leak then
i have a feeling a float needle isnt seating right and is just letting fuel through and flooding your engine giving the difficulties starting.

jesus online problem finding is hard work when a bike isnt infront of you lol

start putting penetrating fluid on the bolts now - holy crap were they siezed and needed drilling out and re tapped
(i know its not easy as they are screwed in tight but every little helps)

while your in that area you might aswell look at the water pipes that go into the carb - decided i was going bypass them anyway as i dont want warm fuel (F**K Emissions) but it turned out they were completely jammed full of corrosion crud anyhow so were doing bugger all which explains why water never came out of them when disconecting

found a great way to hold my tank up using two bungee cords which held the tank at full height and didnt have a piece of wood blocking the area i was working in
today has been a win (apart from forgeting to clear the pilot air holes as i got to obsessed with looking at the jets ahh well next time im in there i will get it done)

the pump is a low pressure pump which once it gets to it psi wont pump further (untill engine started and pressure drops)
obviously a fuel leak after the pump would cause this to keep pumping continuously
-you said you can smell fuel which really points in the direction of a leak
and as you said the bike starts with difficulty that is pointing to the carbs not having enough fuel
so i would check that your drain screws have been shut properly touch your float bowls and see if they are wet
and that the pipes between the tank and carbs are not kinked anywhere
when you stop for a ride wait a few seconds then kill the engine with the kill switch wait a few more seconds and turn kill switch back too run - if you hear the fuel pump then it is not getting the fuel it needs at any time
-you will notice we are checking all the free to do things first and what has been or could have been touched

ok this might be in bits and pieces but 0.6 is definatly a blank - just had two under the magnifying glass and torch and even used a camera to zoom right in (place a jet on a torch and if its blocked then no light)

avoid messing with carbs where you can - i love them and find it relaxing stripping them down but soon will be my job so i have my excuses
(dont worry guys discounts to foc-u members will be available when i get my new place doing sonic cleaning)

looks like you have done a ht cap replacement (angle on the photo looks vertical)
did you do that recently and did you remember to trim the ht leads slightly ?
a smear of silicone sealant on the ht lead outer coating before you put the cap rubber on can seal these better - i use grease sometimes if its a bike i am working on a lot but only because i dont want to seal it for long periods of time.

ok got confused untill i read previous posts
basicly they let air in while your throttle is closed (pilot)(sorry if im writing this in basic terms but its easier for newbies in the future)
so if your float needle valve is open and letting in fuel your main jets are effectively closed so this is the easiest route for your fuel to flow through
- 90% sure its a jammed float needle problem
could just be a bit of crap made its way through if not its a new needle valve assembly 5-10 quid on ebay but make sure you replace the whole bit and not with (ooh there was a bit of that in a spares box)
hope its making sense i am better at doing than explaining (which is why i fail written exams lol)

yeah if your only pissing out fuel when pump running the float valves are open
your pump should stop after a few seconds if you havent run in a few days but i bet yours is running non stop
off come the carbs again bud
(im only running pods so im laughing tomorrow if i have to take mine off for float adjustment)
i cant get a fuel filter till next week so might reverse my fuel filter and run it for a bit to back flush my filter
(through a coffee filter into a jerrycan before anyone panics lol - i always use a coffee filter when draining tanks)
ooh there is a point - does the fazer have a in tank pre filter ? off to search i go

gonna do a compression test tomorrow as a problem has shown up and if all looks well then i might just have to take my carbs off for a but of adjustment
will try and remember to have a deeper look into the carbs for you - might be a video so i dont have to do a shit load of typing
-wish i had my own carb balancer i really should buy one at some point but cant justify the cost at the moment so will continue with a length of tube and my ears (cant wait till my dad goes deaf then i will be better than him at it lol)

what kind of screws ??
strangely a pic of them next to a tape measure might help
there should be enough of us watching for one of us to recognise them (unless they are just generic screws)

and i thought i was bad with looking over wiring diagrams
i spent an afternoon with a A3 photocopy of a gs1100 wiring diagram and a bottle of tipex deciding what i did and didnt really need to give myself a
chop wiring diagram lol - it looked wierd as i was doing it in a pub but thank god it was a bikers pub so not the wierdest thing thats happened i there.

if its only cracked it could be repaired - mine was same but the cage was twisted to buggery so went the naked route instead
-apparently the police were not happy with the naked route and told me to put my clothes back on :lol

could also be the camchain adjuster is about to adjust another click - might just sort itself in a few hundred miles
i cant recall one ever siezing up and not adjusting on a fazer but its always a possibility especially as its a 2k and only done 10k so not had much oil fired around it
-how do people only do 10k in 17 years - i do 15k+ a year (but dont tell my insurance company)

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Headlight coming on when I pull in the clutch
« on: 28 July 2017, 09:52:25 am »
my guess is you have somehow done something with the passing switch wiring (clutch operates high beam)
turn lights off

will the bike start in gear with the clutch in if yes try it with clutch out - if yes then your clutch switch wiring is going through something else
if no then its either not connected or is going through something that is swiched (flick some light switches to find out, including passing switch)
there is a wiring diagram in the downloads section with the full manual

dammit BBrown commented while i was reviewing some wiring diagrams lol

« on: 27 July 2017, 08:46:46 pm »

draining off the carb always best way to go where posibleooh yeah thats your problem right there
go straight to the float and float needle valve my guess is its simply closing far too early or even just sealed shut and that 7ml was just sitting there
or there could be some crap behind the needle valve but a quick blow through the fuel line will show that (just block the other 3 fuel needles)

i have a strange feeling some crap has got through and blocked up carb 1 slightly
but you said 1 carb had less fuel so when you clean your carbs definatly check your float levels
i say this as you have not specified drain order or if on center stand or side stand
remember when you drain your carbs you will also drain the fuel line and the last you drain will always hold the least amount as the fuel line is drained by that point from the other carbs (hard to explain but it is due to air getting in to replace the fuel in the line)
might be worth backflushing the fuel filter to remove some of the crap but do this with caution
Dont do it if you feel uncomfortable doing it....
