For sale is the brilliant Nitron NTR R2 shock for the Gen2 Fazer, will fit all 2006 to 2014 FZ1n and FZ1s models. It is the product they recommend for fast road and track day use. This is the link to the product on Nitron's website;
http://www.nitron.co.uk/catalogue_item.php?catID=12778&prodID=74517
It cost me a whopping £618 (£515 plus VAT) bought new direct from Nitron ! I fitted it to my 2009 FZ1 and it absolutely transforms the bike ! Each click of adjustment can genuinely be felt, and in addition to separately adjustable preload, rebound damping and compression damping, the shock length and therefore rear ride-height can be altered. The shock length is currently adjusted (by a lock but on the bottom end so easy to change) to give an approx 20mm increase in rear ride height which gives sharper and sweeter turn in and improved ground clearance. The included instruction manual gives you all the options and, err instructions on how to adjust everything.
The shock was only fitted for two touring trips and a few Sunday blasts and is in exceptional condition, virtually as new ! The Nitron build quality is second to none, if I didn't need the money it would be going on the living room wall as a piece of art !! The shock comes with instruction manual, original box and packaging, the mounting bracket specific to the FZ1 (to mount the remote adjuster).
I absolutely loved the way the FZ1 handles with this shock fitted, plush but supple and really well controlled. Unfortunatley, my FZ1 has had to make way for a more comfy steed (age is a cruel thing......), so grab yourself a bargain !!!
The price is £350 plus postage, which I will do at £14 to UK Mainland addresses, or you can collect from Rotherhsm, South Yorkshire. If you need any further info, please PM or email me at mikeyfzs1@googlemail.com
Cheers, Mike

Eyup, I have for sale the ultimate touring screen set-up for the FZ1s (2006 model onwards) – it's the excellent Givi touring screen, fitted with the MRA "X-Screen" adjustable screen blade. Together these provide superb wind / weather protection, being significantly higher and wider than the stock screen, and the X-Screen can of course be adjusted through many different height and tilt settings to give a brilliant buffet-free ride, even at inexcusable European speeds !!

I’m 6’2” and it worked spot-on for me with the X-Screen set about half-way up, so I’m sure there’s a setting to please riders of pretty much any height / size ! (Unless “Jaws” from the Bond films rides and FZ1s……….)

It’s all in excellent condition having only been fitted for one foreign touring trip, my FZ1s is now unfortunately sold hence the sale. Cost new was £64 (Givi) + £63 (X-Screen) plus postage, I’m asking £75 plus UK mainland postage, which I’ll do for £15 (it’s light but the box is huge !!).

Please get in touch by p.m. via the forum, then we can exchange email addresses, etc, to sort out the details. I've hopefully attached a picture to this post (although it's not showing up in the post "preview" ?) but if not I can email photo as required.

Cheers,

Fletch

It is with a heavy heart that I am selling the best bike I’ve ever owned - my gorgeous ’59 plate black/grey FZ1s. I’m nudging 50 and although the FZ1s is a very comfy bike by most standards I have arthritis in my knees and also lower back problems, which mean I find the FZ1s too uncomfortable on longer journeys, so I have decided to go down the “adventure” bike route when I have sold it – boo hoo ! Whatever I get will be slower and won’t handle as brilliantly as the FZ1s, but that’s the decision I’m faced with unfortunately.

So………..I was wondering if any of you fine people might be interested in buying my FZ1s ? It has just under 18K miles on the clock, and has a few choice extras fitted, including a Leo Vinci low level silencer (looks and sounds amazing, weighs very little !), Evotech tail tidy and exhaust hanger, colour-matched belly-pan, Ivan’s FCE (fuel cut eliminator), LUST Racing crash mushrooms, double-bubble screen, aftermarket black “shorty” adjustable brake and clutch levers, HEL braided front brake lines, aftermarket “Armstrong” wavey front discs, and a Datatag kit fitted. I have also had the bars, bar risers and heel guards powder-coated satin black. All the standard bits (eg : exhaust, levers, etc) are present and correct and will go with the bike if needed.

I’ve owned the bike almost three years, it has one previous owner and is in beautiful condition throughout and has never seen any road salt so the fasteners, engine paint, etc, are in excellent condition. It has had a recent new chain and sprockets, new front brake pads and (brilliant !) Metzeller Z8 Interact tyres fitted 1K miles ago, so loads of life in them yet ! It has dealer service history up to 7K miles (when I bought it), and since then I have meticulously serviced it myself every Spring (even though it has not reached 6K miles each year I still did an oil/filter change every 12 months), including the last service in April this year, when I changed all the fluids, filters, put in new spark plugs and balanced the throttle bodies. So it needs for nothing – just ride it into the sunset !!

It’s for sale at £4250, viewing is welcome and encouraged – it’s in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Please pm me or email me on mike.fletcher@arup.com (my work email), or by all means call me on 07949 489438.

I’ll take some photos tonight and (try to !) add them to this post tomorrow.

Cheers, Mike

For Sale & Wanted / FZ1s standard indicators wanted please ?

If anyone has some for sale then please get in touch via pm, or email me at mike.fletcher@arup.com

I have for sale a brand new pair of EBC “Pro-lite” front discs and a full set of four front EBC sintered “HH” pads for the Gen 1 (up to 2005) Fazer 1000.

They were purchased for a project which never happened, so are now surplus to requirements, and are brand new in the boxes they came in. In a recent Performance Bikes test, this combination gave significantly better braking performance compared to OE discs, so is an ideal upgrade, or to replace worn-out / warped discs.

They cost me £302 for the discs, and £37 for the pads, plus postage.

I’m selling them for £250 including postage (to UK mainland).

Please get in touch via mike.fletcher@arup.com or through the forum.

Cheers,

Mike

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / FZ1s Power Commander type ?
« on: 19 April 2012, 01:49:05 pm »
Hi there, I’m the new owner of a 2009 FZ1s and am looking to fit an aftermarket silencer and Power Commander (and possibly an Ivan’s FCE), but I’ve noticed that Dynojet list the PCIII for the 2006 to 2008 model years and a PCV for 2009 onwards model years. My understanding is that the engines are the same on all model year FZ1’s (apart from a throttle butterfly tweak on the 2007-on models) so why a different PC ?

Can any of you fine chaps advise ?

Cheers, Fletch

« on: 09 April 2012, 12:32:55 pm »

2005 Low Mileage Blue Fazer 1000 for sale / Part-ex for FZ1s

Eyup, I’ve decided to give the FZ1s a try, so my Gen 1 is up for sale, and I thought I’d pop it on here first.

The bike is absolutely mint throughout, and has not seen any road salt, having only covered 10K miles, 4K in my ownership. It will come with 12 months MOT, and has the following extras fitted;

Ivans’ jet kit
Stainless oval road legal SIMMI  can and link pipe, with removable baffle (standard Yamaha Howitzer exhaust included)
Fabbri tinted double bubble screen (original included)
HEL front brake lines
CNC levers
CG Moto engine / frame crash protectors
20mm raised dog-bones

In terms of service items, it had a new battery last summer, last dealer service at 6K miles in April 2011, and I have since changed the oil / oil filter / spark plugs / front fork oil and cleaned and lubed the EXUP valve, all in the last two thousand miles. Pads and chain / sprockets are fine, tires are approx half worn Dunlop Roadsmarts (excellent all-rounders).

The price is £3395, and the bike is located in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. I’m looking for an FZ1s (probably regret selling the FZS, it’s my second one, but I just fancy a change) so if by chance you fancy a part-ex with mine then let me know.

Give me a call on 07949 489438, contact me through the forum or email me at mike.fletcher@arup.com.

Cheers,

Fletch

Eyup (me again !), I'm looking for some S/H tough & waterproof(ish) boots, size 10 / 10.5 (44 / 45), cheers, Fletch (the boots are for my first expliots into green laning - just bought a CCM to keep the Gen 1 company)

19
Eyup, I'm looking for a textile waterproof jacket, with removable thermal lining. I'd prefer the 3/4 length type jacket. If you have the matching trousers then even better.

I'm 6'2" with a 44" chest, and usually take either XL or XXL.

Cheers,

Fletch

For Sale & Wanted / FZS1000 Rear Shock Wanted (Aftermarket)
« on: 30 January 2012, 01:06:26 pm »
Eyup, I'm looking for an aftermarket rear shock for mi Gen 1, anything considered, cheers, Fletch  :)

Eyup, have any of you fitted a ’99 R1 (4xv) full exhaust system to a Gen 1 Fazer 1000 ?

I’m thinking of going down the full-system route with my Gen 1, and I might be able to get my hands on a ‘99 R1 full Micron system.

Any help and advice appreciated.

Cheers, Fletch

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Less Pies for the Fazer Thou ?!
« on: 23 November 2011, 05:18:22 pm »
:) Eyup, thought I’d pick the collective FOC-U brain about tips for Fazer thou weight saving !

I’ve been thinking of how I might shed a few pounds from mi ’05 Fazer, I’d have thought the bulk of the weight is in the engine and frame, and that there’s not a vast amount that could be done there to reduce weight - or is there ?

Looking round the bike, there are a few obvious things (remove rear footrests (if you don’t do pillion !), remove the metal frame covers around the swing-arm pivot area, etc) but I can’t think of much else that will really save much weight, maybe three or four kilos ?

A lightweight battery (at a price !) should save a further three kilos, and the only other major thing I’ve thought of is lightweight wheels, although again very pricey for something that will save significant weight !

Any other thoughts about how weight can be saved ?

I suppose this post is a bit of winter fun really, and I fully expect the usual “cut down on the pies – the bike is the least of your worries” type replies, but thought it would be good to share any Fazer weight saving tips !

Cheers,

Fletch
