Probably been asked a few times before but things change, done a couple of searches, carole nash and a couple of comparison sites some give the option to declare mods some dont, where do you stand if you use a company that hasn't asked if you have mods and need to claim.

I think the long and short of it is, if you don't declare and need to make a claim then you're screwed! I.e. If the bike is stolen and you've got a grand worth of extra kit on the bike, then you don't see that extra grand and they just pay out for the bike.

Worth the risk?

Ive just renewed my insurance with carol nash ( six wheel policy ) mentioned i had changed exhaust for after market can and all they said they would make a note of it premium didnt change
 I guess there more interested in mods that increase performance

My Dad told me that MCN had an article on MCE insurance and that they would cover any Mods including Turbos etc at no extra charge, he might of misread it but here is the website.

Just got a quote from them, my dad and I (79 and 51) declaring all mods £138 full comp, excess was £800 though.

I have just renewed with ebike..not actually my favourite company to deal with, but always been cheapest and best cover when I have checked on compo sites. I have  a multi bike policy covering 16k worth of bikes fully comp with UK breakdown for £190. Given I had a claim 2 yrs ago in a van that seems reasonable.I have declared all mods on the fazer with no penalty either . I think you have to fully declare mods  as if u dont, and they dont pay out in a fault claim situation ... !!! WTF are you going to do ???...especially if there are PI claims against you...TBH the concept is quite worrying....
