Help! Aftermarket speedo signal converter on Fazer FZS600
« on: 14 November 2020, 07:45:30 pm »
Hello, I have bought a small speedo that has an analogue speedo cable. As I'm sure people are aware the signal on the FZS600... I have the speedo working apart from the signal cable. I have purchased the KOSO speedometer signal converter but now I'm a little stuck on how to connect this up. If anybody is able to help I'd be truly grateful! the more detail the better.
I'll add the details of the speedo and cable below

Hi Phill,
The converter you've bought converts an analogue signal to a digital signal. So if your speedo only takes an anlogue signal then it's gonna be pretty useless to you.

Have you definitely got an analogue speed sensor on the bike?

I've been tinkering with a Koso speedo that was fitted to my FZ600 (99) when I got it. Like you, I also purchased the same Koso analogue to digital converter, assuming that my Fazer has a analogue speed sensor. Upon checking, I found out that it doesn't. It has a digital one.

You'll see it on the left side of the front axel (pictured below).

if your still hunting for a solution your best bet to go this route is to first measure the axle size and look for bikes with the same axle size from this list
http://organ-donor.org/motorcycle-data/motorcycle-front-axle-diameter/   (fazer aint on there for some reason)
then figure out which of those bikes has a analogue speedo drive and grab one from ebay and hope its the same fitting or even better go to a bike breakers and ask if they have a box of them to look for something similar

I believe that's the case and quite possibly the XJR1300, but check first before you buy  ;)
