That was my thinking fazersharp. The best fitting one is surely more effective than an expensive badly fitting one.

I agree but at the time it was reduced from 100 and helmets are the same as everything else you can buy In life. Up to a certain price you get better quality then after that it's all about brand names and fashionable designs to try to go one better than the next person.

I know I'm going to get ripped apart here but I went and spent 2hours trying on helmets without looking at prices and the one I picked shocked me. It fits perfect, (unlike many top brands)I got a tinted visor for 20 quid, the buckle is the best I've ever had on a helmet and it comes with a helmet bag as standard. It also has all the usual safety marks and isn't particularly heavy. Apart from the name I can't find a bad thing with it and I'm no snob so not really bothered.

Its a box scope which i got for 50 quid.

I agree with the above and you sound like you know more than me but if there's so much difference how come they share a Haynes manual?

Go for it. I'm in the same boat. My mates all want to go flat out close to home. I'd rather get some miles on the clock and explore on the bike. Only mate that wants to come touring is making excuses fir not doing his test so it'll be on ma Todd this year up to Scotland. Plus like said above I also like winging it so would probably suit me more.

Thanks chaps. Reckon I'll give them a try next time I give it a service. It's not much extra really. I only use it as a toy so there's not loads of miles going on the clock.

Ngk irridium spark plugs. Do they actually make a difference or is it just a waste of money. Was considering upgrading if they work.

Are magnetic sump plugs worth getting? I'll splash out if so.

imI'm just outside Grimsby. I agree it's a totally different beast to a bandit, much smoother and more nimble (even with me on it) definitely think I made the right choice. Was surprised how many people stop and look at it when it's parked up. Hopefully I'll be putting a lot more miles on it this summer.

Hey new to the group. Just had my first few days out on the bike after finally getting round to passing my test in November. Unexpectedly got myself a mint 2003 fzs600 having never considered one before. Was planning on a cheap bandit as a first bike but didn't like the feel of it when I tried it. Think I made the right choice...I'm hooked! Planning on a few days away this summer with the camping gear and as many trips out as I can fit in in between. What are the fazers like for short tours? I'm a bit green to road riding having only really bombed my crossers round in the woods in the past.
