FZS600 Fazer / Re: Cam chain rattle
« on: 31 May 2014, 05:48:48 pm »
sorry, meant rear guide.

probably going to put a new chain in without doing the guide (as it saves a bunch of work, and may not be needed).

was thinking this chain, unless anyone has a better suggestion?

i spoke to a handy mechanic about this, who warned me that it might be the front guide that is worn, and if it is then i need to strip the engine right down.
he said to take to rocker cover off and measure the length across 10 links, and compare them to what it is meant to be, does anyone know what this is?

Hi does it rattle just when cold or does it continue once fully warmed up? I.e. After 10+ minute ride.

all the time (cold and warm)

FZS600 Fazer / Cam chain rattle
« on: 28 May 2014, 08:22:05 pm »
Hi all!
i know this has been done to death, but wanted to clear some things up. My cam chain is rattling (badly i think, seems more then a ticking), and im getting worried about riding it. (especially after i read this thread about the engine giving up).

Whats likely to be the cause and how do i fix it?

i reset the cam chain tensioner about 6 months ago (though noticed that there were two ball bearings in to make it push more)
the bike is on 60k miles (1998)

any ideas?

12
ill take it please :D

Probabkly not you, as I've seen it a few times in that road now - never with his lights on, silly bugger!
my extra lights are never on
i had them on when i first fitted them and burnt out the reg, so now need to find some LED replacements

14
Is the seat available?

The boxeye I saw had fogs on, like roxysaltmer's bike. But it wasn't hers, this one was all black.

cheers for the help, realised that ive got my dads old Starcom1 knocking about (he took it off to replace with the bluetooth one)
so now im just the £15 connector to a midland radio away :)

General / Re: CB radio
« on: 22 April 2014, 01:15:03 pm »
problem with bluetooth is it can only be paired with one person, and then you need to keep it paired.

stevierst, what radio is it? has it got the 2 pin connector?

found 2 solution, but both very expensive (partly due to shipping from USA)
Rugged radios make a headset that takes a 3.5mm input along with one from a radio (£250 for just the headset)
J & M make one designed for a bike with an MP3 input (~£300 for just the radio, not inc antenna etc...)

« on: 22 April 2014, 10:48:04 am »
I'm in the proses of getting a CB radio on the bike, though I'm after a system where I can have music playing while the radio is not receiving, and mutes the music for the radio.

has anyone got any solutions to this?

dont wear glasses personally, but HJC helmets have a groove for your glasses to sit in and not push into your head
