FZS600 Fazer / Re: 1999 carb jet identification
« on: 24 September 2016, 09:06:22 am »
Sounds like the problems I had mine was running on 3 when I took carbs off that one was blocked, also had one rear inlet on main body that had to be poked out with a wire bristle, upon removing the pilot air screws blowing an airline though there cleared more crap I used brake cleaner spray never thought about thinner to clean jets I'll try to remember that next time.

Another trick I learned whilst apart was to polish the air screws & the brass float seats bit of rag wrapped around screwdriver (careful you don't scratch it) or small punch autosolve etc polish buff couple of times with clean rag hey presto 😎

I slide mine into place them fit front 1st then the airbox as I've done them 4 times bit of a dab hand at it now lol you are removing the battery & loosening the bolts either side to slide it back allowing enough room.

My airbox engages ok but in the past have owned older bikes with hardened rubbers which where a real pain

General / Re: That old chestnut: insurance premiums - serious problem now.
« on: 23 September 2016, 06:55:40 pm »
It's good to float about on 2 or 3 comparison sites they can differ by £20-£30 I do sometimes go direct to check prices too & I don't go with new or unheard of insurance in case they didn't pay out should need arise it's easy to google feedback.
I was with Hastings when I smashed the BMW up they paid out in full,I've no recollection of what happened anyhow ! luckily had protected no claims I'm 42 with max nc.

So I'd let insurance run out then brought the 600 Fazer in Aug only just got it sorted was supprising to get a Hastings quote for £82 fc 😎 tpft was £75 it was a no brainer comp is the quote to get.

Id be prepared to replace all rubber parts inside just had loads of problems getting mine running it was stood for nearly a year the modern 5% ethanol in petrol ruins carbs if ones gone the rest will follow!

I brought a blown up donor bike to get spare parts ended up cleaning out the best carbs swapping out the knackered float seats & o rings that where ok

Introduction / Hi guys
« on: 22 September 2016, 11:23:05 pm »
I'm back on a FZS 600 fazer after a short period off biking due to work past few months & recovery after a big off in June 2015.

I've owned in the past both a 98 FZS 600 for 3 years & a 2001 FZS 1000 too had lots of other stuff but my recent need for a smooth inline 4 to replace my XT600 supermoto which was too vibrating for more than half hour (my damaged shoulder doesn't get on with it either) so finding a 2000 FZS with only 10K genuine was perfect :)
