For Sale & Wanted / 98 Fazer 600 for sale "NOW SOLD"
« on: 04 January 2016, 09:30:27 pm »
After much consideration I have decided to sell my Fazer as its just not being used.
I brought this back in 2009 as a stop gap bike until funds would allow to buy something newer. However the fazer turned out to be an amazing bike and capable of doing all things.
This is a 98 fazer with 32773 miles, 1 previous owner, MOT until March and has12 stamps in the service book, this is in addition to all the servicing I have carried out in the last 6 years of ownership.
The bike has many extras fitted which are included in the sale, they are:
Givi rack and top box
Fuel end can
SS headers
Belly pan
New seat
Double bubble screen
Scot oiler
Radiator guard
12v socket
Rear hugger
Front fender extender
Twin headlight mod
The chain and sprockets are 50-60% through their service life, its recently had new front brake pads, oil and filter was last changed at 31880.
The bike is in a very clean condition and rides great, but as with older bikes it does have a couple of issues. First of is the fork seals, it has sat in my garage for the best part of a year and I have noticed them leaking a little, but when you take it out and start using them they seem to re-seal. I believe they are only slightly leaking due to lack of use. The rear tyre is on its limit and will need replacing.
The cam chain rattles a little when cold, this is a very common problem on the fazer but is completely silent when warm. I have removed the tensioner, reset it and refitted twice before and on both occasions it was quiet for all of 100 miles. This bike has been like it since I brought it at 22k.
so to conclude you are buying a very well looked after fazer with useful extras which needs a rear tyre and using!!!
I have priced it accordingly taking into account the rear tyre and fork seals if you want to change them.
If the bike doesn't sell due to the Tyre & Fork seals i will sort it out in the Summer and sell it then.

I have been totally honest with the description and faults and do not want to mislead anyone.

Price: £1250.00

For Sale & Wanted / 98 Fazer 600 for sale
« on: 22 August 2015, 02:55:43 pm »
Hi All,
This isn't my fazer for sale but a friends, he brought it 3 years ago on my advice :) as he just passed his test. He used it until 2014 and then it got forgotten about. He then asked me to bring it back to life and sell it.
So first of its a 98 fazer 600 with 26k, 12 months MOT (passed today) I have just changed oil & filter, brake fluid, new battery, and a lot of cleaning! It has been lowered slightly via the links on the rear shock (dog bones??)

My friend brought it from a local dealer who said it had full history from the previous owner but there is no proof to say that.
The bike rides well, no rattles from the cam chain, its got a double bubble screen, viper end can, SS headers and heated grips, tyres are probably 60% worn, i would say another 2k left on them. As i ready mentioned i changed the brake fluid however i discovered that at some point some one has snapped one of the bleed screws off the rear caliper, i have bleed it with just the one, the brake works but i would say its not as sharp as my fazer.
It would be ideal as a commuter or a winter hack. There is some corrosion on various fixings, there's various scratches/marks on most of the panels and its by far from being mint. If you want a mint fazer, look else where!
If i've forgotten anything please ask. The bike is located in Tadley in Hampshire between Reading & Basingstoke
I'm away from Monday to Friday next week but can answer questions.

£1095.00

Taken from another forum, £99.00 for 2 tyres, seems cheap to me, however will need to check sizes tho.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Clutch replacement
« on: 25 June 2014, 07:10:56 am »
I've changed the cable and adjusted free play down at the sprocket cover, I had the mechanism apart where the cable goes into the cover and made sure everything was working as it should. the only thing I haven't done is take clutch out.
This problem only come to light last year before any adjustments or cable replacement happened. Its just one of those ignoring little problems.

FZS600 Fazer / Clutch replacement
« on: 20 June 2014, 08:18:43 pm »
Hi guys,
After some advice regarding changing my clutch, when changing it can I just replace the friction plates or do I need to replace springs, friction plates and metal plates?
The reason I'm changing it is not because its worn out but because the amount of free play in the cable varies between hot and cold.
When its cold I have no free play, but when its hot I have lots.
I've tried everything except for changing the clutch, and have now been told by a couple of people I might have warped plates.

Over to you

Cheers Mark.

is that from pyramid plastics as it looks the same as christoT's old one? (apart from being in slow red, obviously!)
[/quote]

It was on the bike when I got it, but the chap I brought it off said he got it when he brought the bike from new. The bike was purchased from motorcycle city and think it was an aftermarket one rather than a genuine Yamaha part.

Of course I had to search for the fastest one, and everybody knows that red is the fastest!!

mines done it from the day I brought it 4 years, 10k miles ago. I have taken it all apart and got it to run quiet but after a few hundreds miles it came back. I wouldn't worry to much about it unless it starts making a noise when hot. oblivious just be mechanically sympathetic with it until the engine is warm.

I will ask the engineers at work on Monday. the companies I deal with are big companies like tyco, compco, hall & kay etc that do sprinklers for big buildings. I'll find out if the guys know of smaller companies.

ah that's what's know as mk3.5, don't ask!! Yes vacuum locks, have a look under the rear seat you will find a t piece, make sure its all connected, if its not that then its just a case of checking all pipes to make sure they're connected.

I thought the mk4 were electric? I've got an old mk3 which is vacuum and the pipes pop off where they go into the doors, hence the pump runs but doesn't operate the locks.

When my neighbour's 15 year old daughter cut herself climbing over my fence, they told me to take a photo of her gash.
 Guess who's in court tomorrow?

Dear Deirdre,

My boyfriend has told me the best cure for constipation is anal sex. I didn't believe him but after some persuasion,he talked me into it and I let him stick his big fat willy into my tiny little bumhole. He shagged me up the bum really hard then after a while, shot his muck, deep into my bowels. He's just rung me this morning saying he wants to try it again as he's still constipated. What should I do ?
