Brilliant Dodsy, glad you got it sorted. Sometimes all it needs is a fresh pair of eyes.

« on: 09 February 2023, 06:45:04 pm »
Hi Julius and welcome to the forum.
I can only endorse what the others above have said about the Ivan’s “Full Monty” or even the “Slip on” kit.
My second Gen1 I had upgraded from standard to the “Full Monty” and my current Gen1, my third, which I’ve had for ten years,  came fitted with the “Slip on” kit. I then had it upgraded to the “Full Monty”.
If you have a search around on the forum, you will find somewhere, dyno graph comparisons between both versions and a standard Gen1 as well iirc?
I don’t think anyone would go back to standard from either upgrade kit. They both make such a positive difference.
The Full Monty, in my opinion, probably gives you a little sharper throttle response than the Slip on kit, but it’s still silky smooth and soo much better than many of the current crop of fuel injected euro 5 bikes.
As stated above, top gear, 25 - ***mph with no hiccups / flat spots etc, just glitch free grunt.

Thanks for the update Beuleux.
Glad you got it done, for piece of mind if nothing else.

For Sale & Wanted / Re: For sale...IVAN's slip on jet kit
« on: 03 February 2023, 07:57:21 pm »
When I bought my My current Gen1, which I’ve had for over ten years now, it already had a “Slip on kit” fitted and it ran superbly with it.

However, having previously had the “Full Monty” on a previous Gen1, I decided to upgrade. Mike was kind enough to do this for me down in Saltash. I then sold the “Slip on Kit” in the “Full Monty” box to BJohnD on here. This was at the end of 2017.
It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that BJohnD may have sold this on again? Equally, there is I suspect, quite a few on here that might have done the same upgrade over the years and as I did, sold the removed “Slip on Kit” in the “Full Monty” box.

For Sale & Wanted / 2021 Tracer 9GT 50L Top Box / Rack / Back rest

2021 Yamaha Tracer 9GT Top box / Rear rack / Passenger back restHaving sold my 2021 Yamaha Tracer 9GT, I now have the following for sale…….
Yamaha 50L top box, complete with passenger back rest and mounting plate. No key with it, but it is unlocked, so that you can either remove the lock and have it keyed to your ignition key, or you can get a lock set with a single key from Yamaha currently for £17.50.
The box is in excellent condition with no obvious damage.
By my calculations to buy this set up new would cost you:

Yamaha 50L top box £237.98 inc lock set from Flitwick
Back rest £37.05 from FlitwickYamaha
top box mounting plate £81.70 from Flitwick
Total £356.73.
Assuming that any buyer will want to buy a lock set @ £17.50 from Yamaha, I’m offering the box / rack / back rest here for £172.50 plus P&P at cost.

Glad to hear that you’ve got the mighty Thou back on the road. Fingers crossed that you get to enjoy the rest of the summer before anything else needs sorting.
It’s great to hear someone throwing soo much time into keeping a bike like this going. Wish I had the talent / knowledge to do some of the jobs that you’ve done.
It’s true what you say, trying to find a worthy replacement for the Gen1 is no easy task.
The closest I’ve come so far is the new Tracer 9GT. It doesn’t really do it for me aesthetically, but it is a cracking bike, with a bit more leg room than the Fazer. Still nowhere near £9k better than my Fazer though.
Other than the original pricing, I think they got the Gen1 soo right. I’ve had my current one (third) for ten years now. Imho it’s still a good looking bike.

That’s reassuring. Makes this amateur spanner wielding monkey feel not quite so manually autistic.
My problem, (other than a clear lack of talent) is manual dexterity. I spend more time on my knees looking for and picking things up that I’ve dropped, than I ever do making meaningful progress with tools. 🤗

Hi Mike,
Hope you’re keeping well? And enjoying your retirement.
Could I ask…………will the Db killer for the akro fit the end can that I had off of you with the other spares?
If so, I’ll have it off of you along with the OEM bar end weights please?

Where in the country are you? And is it for a Gen 1 thou? (Your profile shows 600). Or do they share the same size / diameter handlebars?

Good job done. 👍

I can rest a little easier now, as I couldn’t be bothered to do mine at the suggested mileage.  :D

In fairness, I did check them on one of my earlier Gen1’s and like you, they were in spec, so didn’t bother this time around.

Good luck with the carb balance.

Thanks dude there that's just what I was looking for, pretty cheap too, bookmarked it will buy it later 👍
Let us know how you get on.

Just bear in mind that the link that I sent you was actually for the Gen1 Fazer.
Apologies, for some reason I had it in my head that yours was a Gen1. Having just seen your recent post about needing a Gen2 front wheel, I realised my mistake.
You’ll maybe need to call Marksman bearings, but Im sure that they’ll still be able to sort you out.
Good luck.

Here you go…….

https://shop.marksman-ind.com/fzs1000-fazer-gen1-linkage-bearing--seal-kit-10364-p.asp

These were recommended in the forum some years ago. I’ve used them twice over the years.

Have a search on the forum though, both this and the older one. From memory, there’s a few threads going back a few years about this. There’s quite a few of us have had an advisory for “slight play in the swingarm / suspension linkage” over the years. Some have changed the bearings and subsequently still had a little play.

Good luck. Hope you get it sorted. 👍

Don’t know if this thread from a few years back will help?

I don’t think the red changed until the last red/black models in 2005?

Thanks for the prompt response Kebab.
Ironically, I’ve recently had the seats on my NC750X reupholstered by CM Seats. Like you, I’m very pleased with the results. Soo much more comfortable than the originals, which are, imho, one of the most uncomfortable standard seats ever fitted to a bike.
I’ll probably try for an inch or so extra height, with the gelastic pad, just to try and reduce my knee / hip / peg angles a touch.
This time, I’ll maybe book a ticket for the Triumph factory tour and drop off the seat on the way.
I’ll have a look around for some lower pegs in due course, see how I get on with the seat first.

@kebab19 - Can I ask please?
where did you get your seat done please?
Did you get a bit of height added to it?
What footpegs did you get?
How much did they lower the pegs?
Was it a pita adjusting the height of the rear brake pedal / gear shift lever?
Many thanks.

You might find this website useful?

https://www.renthal.com/worksfit/

You select two different bars and then scroll down. It shows you an image to demonstrate the difference in height and pull back.
Lots of folk on here go for the ultra low road 758 which, I believe, give a similar feel to the original Yamaha bars, but are much stronger.

I have these fitted with a set of bar risers, that I find quite comfortable. That said, I think the 756 road high would give a similar improvement. I did change my brake hose though to give me a bit more slack for positioning.

Whereabouts are you in the country? If you’re local to Reading, give me a shout. You can always pop by and try mine out for size.
I’m not sure how well you’ll be able to see them in the attached photo?
