Makes no difference which way round the damper is fitted. I made brackets for mine and it's fitted the way shown in pic's for clearance by the tank and when on max' right lock.
It's a cheapy fleabay item; might not say "hyperpro" or "ohlins" but has large effective adjustment range, sufficient length of stroke, good rose joints at the mounting points and build quality looks reasonable......not leaking damper oil yet......

Damper on mine, fitted purely for cosmetic reasons........recent track day had to actually wind it on a couple of turns 'cos of wibbly-wobbly under hard acceleration  :lol

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Chinese Brake and Clutch levers
« on: 04 April 2017, 07:18:05 am »
Folding adjustable levers from China on all my bikes. No problems at all, though as others have said take care making sure everything is tightened and functioning properly when fitting. Yes I do feel 4 finger braking is occasionally warranted on the Fazer 1000 when the old brakes don't perform as well as the Brembo radials on the Busa with two fingers but it's no big deal, I have the length adjusted shortish but still easily able to 1,2,3,4 or even 5 finger (I'm from Devon , we also have webbed feet  :lol) braking.

The Simoniz engine enamel needs a heat cure cycle. I tried it on the generator and starter motor covers and it wouldn't cure without some time in the oven......not at the same time as the Sunday roast  :lol

61 here and I'll never stop riding. It's what keeps me sane(ish). Just had a series of op's on wrists and knees and hips now hurting every time I get off the bike, but the pain and discomfort is still very much worth it. Determined not to go down in size; still riding Busa and Fazer 1000 on road and drag racing a brutal B-King :)

Keeping stock items wrapped in cotton wool  ;) Will post pic's of the progress.....

Events, Meets, Ride outs etc / Loomies Saturday 4th March
« on: 01 March 2017, 12:39:04 pm »
Anyone fancy meeting up at Loomies around noon this Saturday? I'll be leaving Exmoor around 9.30........on the Busa as the Fazer is currently on the operating table having a respray and general tinkering of it's bits  :rolleyes

In 2010 I totalled my heavily modified B-King  :'(
I had declared the obvious like change of exhaust but had not declared aftermarket levers, rearsets, handlebars etc. Nor had I declared modified airbox, decatted header pipes, Power Commander and dyno tune. They apologised as they could only pay out stock bike value of £6500. I replaced with a similar B-King that cost £6000.

My Fazer is currently stock......with rearsets, bellypan, Renthal bars, folding adjustable levers and R6 shock. Declared to insurers resulting in no change in premium as mod's not deemed to increase performance or value significantly. I'm with Principal Insurance, underwriters are Equity Red Star. 2014 Hayabusa, 2008 B-King and 2001 Fazer100  fully comp' for £196.95 Excess £450.

"Its when you start looking for eighth gear that you know you have a problem"

No, it's when you find eighth that you have a problem  :lol

Acturely looking at fitting a gear indicator myself and thought about this little puppy on fleabay - I know it's cheap Ying-tong shit, but cheap enough to bin it when it doesn't work  ;)

General / Re: What kind of Bikers are Fazer owners?
« on: 19 January 2017, 04:29:52 pm »
Option 1 is nearest the truth for me. My bikes are for being an irresponsible nutter on  - B-King for drag racing, Busa for high speed shenanigans and track days and Fazer for hooliganerooniness  :evil

I'm a pensioner so should know better  :rolleyes

Regarding leathers, you can use two piece as long as they zip together (and ARE zipped together). Though I advise one piece with back protector, good used bargains to be had on fleabay.

It's an annual thing SouthWestBikers do in early June, next year's date is Friday the 9th. I ran the Busa there this year but aiming to do next year's track days on the Fazer. There are some places available in the "very wobbly" and "moderately wobbly" groups so I posted here if any other Foccers want a larf in South Wales.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Track day Llandow 9/6/17

Going to take the FZS1000 to Llandow for a track day with the SouthWest Bikers crew. We may have places available if anyone wants to play???
Have the bike in the workshop for fettling - will fit decent rear shock off a B-King - not sure what to do to uprate the front suspenders for track days. USD conversion will be a pain, what can be done with the stock front end?

Earth on the lights faulty, lamp loose in holder (poor contact) or poor contacts in switch.
