General / EU referendum new poll, leave or stay it's your say?
« on: 08 March 2016, 09:25:52 pm »
I just have noticed the old poll has expired and too many people have not got a chance to vote.

Here is your chance use it wisely  :lol

If that is of any help here is my favourite referendum song...again  :rollin :rollin

Some facts:

55% of the UK export goes to the EU. 7% of the export of rest of the EU goes to the UK.

Italians don't drink cappuccino after 11 AM.

P.S. The new poll is much more democratic from the old one. You can change your vote at any time.

P.P.S. I also have a paypal account if somebody wants to change anything here  :lol

FZS600 Fazer / plastic bit part number?
« on: 06 March 2016, 01:56:38 pm »
Hi All,

when using the front paddock stand, it has slipped and broke a plastic bit that is on the front axle.

Cheap paddock junk  :'(

I suppose this is some kind of dust guard that sits in front of the bearing dust seal.

The problem is I cannot find that part anywhere listed neither in parts pdf or online, can you help me here with part number?

Here is a picture of the nearside with the black plastic bit in place as it should be:

Here is a picture of the offside with the broken black plastic bit missing:

BTW if you have any idea about good front paddock stand too...

General / new can Delkevic 450mm oval stainless steel sound check
« on: 06 February 2016, 01:26:11 pm »
Delkevic 450mm Oval Stainless Steel Silencer to fit FZS600 FAZER (1997-2003)  KIT0604 - the reasons I've got this one: I like it, its shiny. Cheap £119. Comes as a completely full kit: the oval can, link pipe, all brakets, inside seal on the link pipe, even red tube with red silicone. Quality kit.

450mm keeps the sound low hence I keep the baffle in too. Happy neighbours - probably :-)  and bonus no headache for me too LOL.

INB4 if you want low deep rumble sound get V twin bike. IL4s are for screaming...

General / body shop south east
« on: 28 January 2016, 03:30:41 pm »
Hello all,

I've just been quoted £450 for front fender, the tank, the rear bit around the seat and the front nose of Yamaha FZS600 Foxeye. Cherry Red metallic no stripes or masking. The original is silver. That means more work probably? Or they can sand and prime over the old paint? I have no idea.

Is that ok as a price?

Can you recommend me any good body shop around Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham, Berkshire, Surrey area, that can do that cheaper or I am asking too much?

General / minor crash
« on: 22 January 2016, 02:11:32 pm »
You may remember my workshop bing bang starting issues.

Here is the spill that comes with it  :rollin

Cold weather -2 Celsius this day, and the bike was not starting at all. After Nth try it has started. Before starting there was fuel explosion in the exaust can. That has happened twice this day. Once in the morning and once on the way home from work. Apprently the explosions has disconnected my link pipe. The pipe has touched the ground I have crashed rodeo style. Luckily it was not the motorway.

How do you call that? High side, low side? The back of the bike has trown me up I got back on the saddle and got down with the bike. I think its low side.

General / big bang help
« on: 19 January 2016, 06:37:37 pm »
Hi guys,

today was cold. My FZS 600 was not starting even on choke. I have tried about 20 times. My battery is good and I keep the bike on a charger.

I have used such pattern - I try 3 times no wait between the times than wait about 5-10 seconds and try again.

There was distinctive smell of gas. I may have flooded the engine.

Than after on 21sr try after one of the big wait I hear really big bang. Louder than a gun shot. Next try it has started on choke.

Than the same thing has hapenned on the way home after work. Many tries in the work car park followed by a big bang and starting.

Any ideas why this bang is hapenning? The bike is over 30k. I have no idea are the carbs ballanced at all.

The bangs apparently has loosen up the last bit of the exaust the can with the muffler?

The exaust can got disconnected from the single pipe somehow messed with my back wheel, the feeling was like somebody kicks your bike rear tyre. I also lost it because of that when filtering 1 mile from home  :'(

Luckiliy the place was with 3m wide shevrons so I have fallen down gently there. Nice guy has helped me to pick the bike.

The exaust peg connection was still holding, I have tried to move the pipe out of the way. This time the bike started fine the first time on choke.

The sound was funny, everybody was going out of my way the moment I squeeze the clucth because of the screaming sound and I've got home slowly.

Any ideas about the big bang?

Here by popular demand.

NorthWestern has created this as a part of our picture challenge. Most of us, I mean fazersharp, HarryHornby and me  :lol , like that so much so here we have permanent thread with your bike ride outs and pictures:

A picture with your bike in a Then and Now comparison with a historical urban  photograph. IMO it can be any old photograph picture or postcard too.

For example old postcard of Brighton pier Then and Now or

Such as these - This is Prestons Miller Arcade in 1902

So, you would find a pic like that, then recreate it with your Fazer in the shot, so this would be something like:

This is Miller arcade today (well, recent - not sure of the exact data...), It is clearly the same place but a different era.  Your Fazer would be in that picture.

The pic needs to be recognizably in the same place (ie you can't take a picture of a field, then your bike outside your new build house).

It can be abroad as well say Paris old Gare d'Orsay

currently train museum in Paris
Musee d'Orsay
and your bike in front  :)

Here it is Wokingham town hall then:

and now with my bike:

FZS600 Fazer / what is the best 4T synt oil you have used and why?
« on: 03 January 2016, 02:16:26 am »
ok guys what is the best 4T synt oil you have used and why?

IME sometimes you put good oil and you hear the difference I mean the engine sound is smooth, sometime you put wrong oil and is all knocking around.

I am happy with Silkolene comp esther now, but is this one Motul 300V way better?

Looking at tech specs I see viscosity is much higher:

General / Poor man 4k Ultra High Definition UHD action camera
« on: 21 December 2015, 03:44:08 pm »
Poor man 4k Ultra High Definition UHD 2.5k action cameras dual set up.

I hate to spend money for electronics. Its all made in China anyway. My poor man cameras project cost around £100 for two cameras including cables  :eek

My £60 Firefly 6S finally has arrived after 3 weeks from China.

http://www.gearbest.com/action-cameras/pp_239152.html

I had old clone of the clone £20 1080p one too. So here is my black box permanent two camera set up.

The only expensive bit is PDM60, but you can use a relay and a fuse.

I have mounted the 4k camera in front and the other on the back.

It is permanet mounting. Have used soldering iron to make a nice holes in the waterproof cases for both so that I can plug USB cables. Than sealed with some silicone.

Both cables are zip tied and go under the seat where I have two ports USB socket mounted and connected to the PDM60. After I turn the ignition on PDM69 gives me nice 7 seconds delay before turning the power for the USB socket on.

Both cameras are set up in DVR mode, means you turn power they start recording, turn off power stops recording.

Kind of black box set up. Both have 32Gb cards and are set up to record 5 minute clips in never ending cycle mode.

Because the cameras are sealed I use laptop to connect and download videos:

Now I need to find simple 4k UHD video editor. Apparently Movie Maker does not supports higher resolution  :(

Edit: found free brilliant 4k UHD video editor. This one works out of the box after installation no messing needed.

Shortcut video editor: http://www.shotcut.org/bin/view/Shotcut/Download

There is no help though  :eek

Here is all you need to know for simple editing:

File Open -> drag on timeline.

Click Save to save your new project.

Drag the vertical marker to go somewhere.

Click L to play. Click L again to play faster.
Click J to play backwarsd. Click J again for faster.
Click K to stop playing.

Click S to make a cut.

Here is what I do to remove some unwanted part:

Click S to make a cut in the begining of the unwanted part. Go to end of the unwanted part by playing it and click K to stop there. Than Click S again. Right click mouse pointing somewhere over unwanted part and choose "Lift". You will see brown gap where unwanted part was. Again right click and choose "Remove".

Now you have one wanted part and next to it your next wanted part. Drag any of the two and make them overlap a little. This way you create smooth transition between parts to avoid jumping.

After you've finished all editing click Save to save the porject.

Click "Encode" tab and you will see:

Click encode file and chose a name say "MyCut1.mp4".

Go drink some tea or cofee. Even short encoding will taje some time like 30 minutes.

Enjoy your ultra high definition UHD 4k new video  :D

This high resolution 2886x2160 makes 6 minutes video 1.4Gb  which takes 230 minutes to upload on youtube, because youtube creates 8 videos to cover all lower resolutions too.

Links with sample 4k videos to follow after 240 minutes :lol

Panic breaking on a cycle. The same as motorcycle. The bike straigthens and goes wide. You hit exactly what you are trying to avoid. Not cool not to call an ambulance for the poor kid. The bike was going rather fast:

FZ6 / Fazer / fzs 600 compared to fz6 s2 abs
« on: 07 November 2015, 01:56:37 pm »
Hello friendly FZ6 guys  :)

I need your help how fzs 600 compares to fz6 s2 abs?

My main question is which one would be better commuter in London, means lighter and sharper when filtering?

Cannot find any proper reviews and from collected information so far:

on the plus side for FZ6 S2 so far

- has ABS

minuses:

- FZ6 S2 has only one of the two front bulb headlights working on dipped beam? I may be wrong but I like my FZS 2 bulbs lights on configuration.
- Seat is not so comfty for FZ6 S2, exhaust heat also?
- suspension not sure which one is better do not care anyway that can be upgraded
- brakes even S2 still not so good if you do not trigger ABS.
- engine some drop in powerband around 6k not so smooth as carbed FZS

I may be completely wrong here really would like somebody that has both to comment?
