Which can - FZ1?
« on: 07 December 2011, 12:50:51 pm »
Some may remember that I dropped my FZ1 a while back with new tyre syndrome and put some nice dents into my Mivv carbon stubby can amongst other damage of course.

Well, all the other damage has been repaired and the only blemish left is the can and link pipe. I know some of you might suggest that I leave it but I really want to have this bike looking untouched and that dented can bugs me.

So, I do really like the can itself but as i'll be replacing it I thought i'd throw it out there for some alternatives. The Mivv cans and link pipes aren't cheap so I guess the same budget opens the doors to some nice new stuff.

I would want a stubby system of sorts. Something that looks trick and sleek and suits the FZ1 nicely. Not a fan of twin pipes of any sort though. Not overly bothered about the noise as they're all quite good but I expect i'd leave the baffle in. My Mivv can baffle in is loud enough, with it out is sheer thunder and just screams to be pulled over by the fuzz

Over to you for suggestions and preferrably pics :)

Just ordered an Akrapovic Hexacone slip on in carbon.

About £480 from Calsport, delivered by the weekend (allegedly!)

Has removable baffle (which will be removed!)

Took delivery of new K+N hiflow air filter to match earlier this week.

Ideallly I'd like something a tiny bit smaller but still legal is poss?

Paul - Ask your mate how much just in case it's a fair price though

Have you seen the Mivv Ghibli can, £283. Not exactly stubby, bit look neat,  imo. I've got one on my Fazer8 and I'm impressed by the build quality. Cant grumble about the price either compared to some other cans.

Oooooh.....I like...I like a lot!!

On a larger pic the joins for each section look a little messy but could just be the pic.

You're satisfied then?...sound OK?

The joins on my can are really neatly done. I'll take some pics of mine when the sun comes out on a weekend .... could be a while yet.  With the baffles in it adds a bit of noise without being too loud. Guess thats a subjective thing. Another Fazer8 owner I see down Poole Quay occasionally said he took the baffles out but it was too loud. Seeing the quality and hearing it made my mind up.

Looking at the FZ1 link pipe there is a couple of extra tubes, not sure what thats there for. Exup valve? Dont know.

The Fazer8 doesn't have an Exup or those extra bits in the link pipe.

My FZ1 fazer has a full Akro system with carbon can and does away with the collector box and the ex-up as well. Ace.
