Cover for FZS600
« on: 25 May 2016, 01:20:47 pm »
Hi, can anyone recommend a good and/or cheap cover for a Fazer? They've got the Oxford Aquatex ones in Halfords but not sure what size to get.
Thanks

The aquatex ones will do a pretty decent job but they are very thin and easy to catch on a corner of something and tear.
The stormex is very much thicker, bit also double the price!
I've always gone with the large size but that's with a top box on the bike!
(although I believe they now do a specific shape of cover for topboxes)
Some say...

I've had a Oxford Aquatex for a year now, i got one mainly because it has the holes at the front wheel to put a padlock through because someone nicked my previous unsecured bike cover overnight. Its a good cover, is a bit thin but no rips in mine yet. I bought the medium size and it fits a treat.

Thanks. I've got a top box rack but no top box (that's how I bought it!) so Medium should do the job... Will keep an eye out for deals on Stormtex

I have a medium size Aqatex with a bulge at the back for a topbox, fits perfectly over my FZS600 with a small Givi top box (30L or thereabouts.) Unfortunately I dont think they do the Stormtex with provision for a top box, which I prefer to leave on my bike rather than take it on and off, so the Aquatex works quite well for me.

Like others have said, its quite thin. Mine has got a couple of rips in it after less than a year (and I dont think Ive been particularly rough with it), and also the strap that goes under the belly (which stops it blowing off the bike in wind) has come detached on one side. Guess I should sew it back on, or maybe hit Oxford up about a replacement since it only lasted about 6 months before that happened...

And being so thin, any part that comes in to contact with the bike will likely result in moisture seeping through, just like a tent, so beware if theres anything that needs particular protection from moisture.

Can be tricky to put on in wind because it likes to blow up like a parachute and go where ever it wants. Otherwise its nice and light and goes on and off quickly. Basically, does what it says on the tin.

I dont have a garage or anywhere undercover to keep my bike, so it gets the full weather treatment, and I do have concerns about the longevity of it. So far its holding up (just.)

I have a aquatex but one windy night it affectively became a sail and pulled my fzs600 on its side and bent the bars and scratched the clutch cover and exhaust :( now saving the pennies for one of theses http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORBIKE-BIKE-COVER-SHED-MOPED-STORAGE-GARAGE-MOTORCYCLE-SCOOTER-SHELTER-/311406662380?nav=Search

I had an R&G cover that was a good fit except slightly  short at front end so bottom half of front wheel no covered but hardly any flapping around.  On windy days I put a couple of extra bungees right round cover to stop it flapping on turning into sail.

Get one that's heat proof lower down, has air vents, and an easy and quick way of hooking each side together underneath, like a bungee strap.
I have a top box on mine so have always bought XL, and they've just about covered everything comfortably.

I don't use my large one so much anymore, it doesn't turn into a sail so badly but it does flap a little and it's rubbed through my (already thin) paint on the tail and over the front fairing. Anyone had any luck with lined covers that don't scuff so badly?
