Aftermarket Exhaust
« on: 02 November 2016, 11:12:56 am »
Hi guys

I'm interested in fitting an aftermarket exhaust to my 2001 Fazer and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good quality and loud exhausts for it.

*please note I personally just prefer loud exhausts, I in no way have anything against the quieter ones, nor am I one of these boys racers who uses their loud can to annoy people deliberately, it is just a personal preference.

*also note my Fazer current has a Carbon (the brand Carbon, not wrapped carbon) exhaust on it.

Thanks guys hope you can help 😊

This is with the baffle in place, making it totally legal, it has BSAU stamp marks on it.

Fair play mate that SP engineering one sounds so nice, how long have you have it for and how easy was the installation?

I have my Quill one on at the moment, but i've had the Moto GP one a few years.
Think the link pipe is the thing you need to get right, as sizes differ, other than that they just slip on easily.
No matter what anyone says, for best results a carb balance is recommended.
Sounds mad with the baffle out.

What if I just had a carb balance and clean less than 400 miles ago?

Just the fact that they've been balanced at all is a huge plus, and a lot of the exhaust manufacturers will say it won't need to be done, just bolt it on and off you go.
And as you already have an after market can fitted, the chances are it'll be fine.

I'm a fan of the noisier exhaust too, but i found that eventually there were things to consider.
Motorway journeys can become a bit of a headache with a loud exhaust, and can sound a bit monotonous as well very quickly, so bear that in mind.
And although i like the fact other motorists can hear you approaching before they can see you, this also applies to the police, so it can give you very unwanted attention as well. Although as said, that Moto GP can has the correct stamp on it and as long as it is baffled it is borderline legal with the baffle in, and will pass an MOT as long as you mention these things to the examiner beforehand.
I tried it one day without the baffle in and i could see heads turning 100 metres ahead of me, which i wasn't keen on at all, even if the bike did sound awesome.

A few of us have Blueflame exhausts, nice noise without upsetting the neighbours or the plod.

No chance, that is more or less the same as having no silencer at all.

Thought I'd revive this thread as I'm after a new end can. Anyone have anything more to add besides what's here, I'm after something  louder than stock but not so loud I can't hear myself think (aka my current Pro Race one).

Blueflame are a good option, take the baffle out if you want loud and put it in for a lot louder than standard but not too loud to annoy the neighbours  :D

Chris

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

Chris, if you piss your neighbours off you get thrown into the sea, never to be seen again, apart from maybe some poor sod in Iceland (not Kerry Katona).

Perhaps, she is over 80 and half my height but I wouldn't pick a fight with her. haha!

I like my can with the baffle in anyway and never had any complaints  :)

No, i'm quite content with the Quill can at the moment, which has a pleasant rumble at low revs.
