GIVI finish/QC
« on: 01 May 2012, 02:28:39 pm »
is it my imagination or is GIVI finish akin to 70's BMC.
just taken the rack out of the garage and paint is bubbling off in huge lumps. does it come as any surprise to them that these things live outdoors and need a proper finish. GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!

anybody fitted a wingrack to a 1000 btw?

my givi rack has been on for 3 years now and this year i took it off and got it powdercoated as the finish was pretty much shot. cost me £18 for sand blast and satin black powdercoat. if it lasts me 2-3 years more then i am happy with that.

let me put it into perspective. my katana is 27 years old and the finish on the frame is still A1.

It's funny how the boxes are absolutely superb - had one on mine in all weather for 4 years and still looks new ... The rack on the other hand!

I've just refurbished the rack on my 1000. It strips down very easily to the two metal arms which can be rubbed down and repainted in the finish of your choice.

Simple enough DIY job.

I have a Givi rack & box on my FZS1000 and the full pannier / top box set on my VFR800.  The VFR is use for touring and the finish on all the fixtures & fittings after a good few years of use is still absolutely fine.
