can it be changed to o2 bud?
Your local high street or market will have a small phone shop that should be able to do this for £10-20.

Save your forks with a sheet of clear sticky back plastic such as fablon. Works brilliantly.
mine were already on thier way when I bought the bike, but once painted will do what you suggest.

When you buy any motor parts from out of Europe there is no minimum amount to get charged import tax and vat, I know from experience as I got stung on a cd changer that cost £20 from America, they even charged me the vat and tax on the dollar amount.

Correct and when the total amount inc. shipping goes above £150 you then pat customs and/or excise vat on that.

Mine was the same got it repaired from a company in Glasgow...£45 or he could make a new one for £150 - http://eastendradiatorsglasgow.co.uk/

Very good deal.

If your isnt leaking then its probably a good candidate for a repair/refurb.

The only things that have been effected thus far are the front of the forks (this will be the second winter so will get them painted next year) and engine side covers (keeping an eye out for some good s/h ones.

There were a few reasons for choosing the the b12 over a second fzs for winter -
  • if dropped parts are cheaper than the fazer, for the moment at least.
  • has less power and more torque, so better at filtering.
  • headlight is perfectly suited to being converted to HID due having none moving bulbs.
  • the seat for me at least, is more comfortable once riding goes beyond the hour mark.
  • Far less buzzing at motorcycle and urban speeds, at 40mph in top its a positive joy.
  • better gearbox and clutch (its hydraulic)
  • even more space under the seat.
  • superior electrics, due to better alternator and loom design.

Another option is getting the existing rad repaired or better a clone made (assuming they dont already have a template foir the fzs 1000 rad)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LOOK-GENUINE-YAMAHA-FZ6-FAZER-FZ-6-2006-RADIATOR-RAD-FREE-UK-POST-/131009552197?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item1e80c71f45

Will that fit a Fazer Thou?

No, I thought it would but some of the mounting are wrong. But carried on looking and found two on ebay that are located in the US -

- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-01-02-03-04-05-YAMAHA-FZ1-FZ1000-FZS10-FZ-1000-OEM-RADIATOR-COOLER-/321546643766?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4addac6936

And this one, but I wouldnt touch it at the price they are asking -

The trouble is with buying from outside europe, once the the total price goes over the £150 mark which means you'll get hit with import duty and vat on both the price of the item and the shipping costs - HMRC really are a bunch of cnuts!

anyway what I didn't notice was the chain guard was ripped off at the front bracket
Its a 10-15min welding job to fix that, no need for engineers report or re-mot.

1646
  • why on earth they want you to go and get another MOT for a cat d, seems like they are trying to pass their costs onto you.
  • explain in a nice way that THEY are the insurance co and it is THEIR responsibility when inspecting the vehicle to ascertain it's condition/value, not yours.
  • finally, your policy for that bike will cease the moment they send you the cheque as a payout usually ends the contract.
  • sounds like they are trying to pull a fast one.
  • If they made you an offer and you excepted, as SLG said they can't start adding on costs after the event.
  • exactly, so go get insured with someone else after this. Don't forget to keep it off the road in the mean time.

I have the stock shock from my 2004 bike, it has only done 5000 miles from new. You can have that for 50 quid plus P&P
This is a much better deal than that one on ebay :-)
