Clean oil? Great!  :\

Wouldn't you prefer to see the oil dirty and full of all the crap that your engine produces rather than lovely clean oil and a dirty engine??

Sorry, bit of a hobby horse of mine - clean oil coming out is either not in there long enough or not doing the job it is there for.

Think about it....

« on: 01 February 2012, 11:01:36 pm »
I also bought a cheaper  replacement on ebay,it looked good but  was totally useless, the first one came away where it is crimped at the bend so they sent a replacement which did exactly the same. I then had to argue for a refund,I cant remember the makers name but I ended up biting the bullet and buying a Yam one  theyre not cheap but youve got the peace of mind of not worrying about it.

Yep, me too on that one!

The cables were all supplied by Hi Level (parts wholesaler) to the various shops that then sold them on to the public via ebay.

I seem to recall Hi Level punt them out to the trade for something like £4.95 + VAT.  :eek

The part number is prefixed by "HL..." is a give away.

Avoid like the plague, these cables are as much use as tits on a bull.  :'(

Not personal experience but one of my customers had the same issue on his FS1 after a longish lay up.

A good blast and some fresh petrol sorted him.

At the shop, we use this:

http://www.tooled-up.com/Product.asp?PID=28811&Referrer=froogle

You do need a compressor though.

The job then takes around 20 minutes front and back with no difficulty in getting all the air out. Uses around 200 mls of fluid usually and we charge £30. Not worth getting your spanners out for that!

Other brake bleeders are available.

Hi Guys,

Here is a Winter bargain for those more enthusiastic riders on the forum!

I am doing Metzeler Rennsports at £150 a pair fitted to the bike while stocks lasts.

Fronts are 120/70 17 and rears either 180/55 17 (Gen 1) or 190/50 17 (Gen 2).

Pretty competitive on other brands too!

Ring the shop (South Wales) on 01685 870070 or e mail on info@celticmotorcycles.com for details.

Also doing MoT's for £25 and loads of other discounts on services and other stuff whilst the weather is crap.

Wow! Great job in getting THAT out.....  :eek

We hear a LOT about plugs breaking like this lately - my fitter is anal about using a torque wrench to do them up and I used to rag him. Won't now.  :D

I think the settings are stupid low - maybe 9 n/m or something like that! That is hard to jugde without a wrench.

I was the other guy!

Mine was a Red Fox though. Problem was simple on mine - holes drilled in wrong place.

Red Fox replaced mine and I gave the old one away to soeone on here who reamed out the holes and bolted it up!

Had mine beefed up at the front to shift me back a little (made the bike easier to wheely as a surprise free benefit!), reprofiled slightly (also dished out the pillion area a little which, I am told, helps the unlucky passenger....) and recovered. I believe it came to £70 all in which I considered great value.

I think he does gel pads etc - best to ring him (mobile, he rarely answers the land line or e mails - too busy!) for a quote.

Problem One is likely to be a short somewhere - try cleaning the connector block under the left fairing inner as a starting point.

Problem Two sounds like an Exup related one - do a search on here and then investigate.

IMO the PR2's are the best tyres ever!  :lol

I use them on my K5 1000 and have had over 3200 miles out of the rear with a ride left in them as well. That's incredible for a full on litre bike which gets properly caned!  :)

Had them on the Fazer too for a the last few sets before she got sold and couldn't fault them.

Bit pricy though.  :eek

I have just opened my own bike shop (round of applause....!) and we are currently doing a promotion on Metzeler Rennsports at just £150 a pair including fitting to the bike. Shop is around 30 minutes from Cardiff and just 10 minutes from the Brecon Beacons so maybe worth a run down for a pair followed by a great ride out to scrub them in....  :thumbup

Not sure what they will be like on the Fazer but they are usually a great fast road tyre and for that price, you can't really go wrong!  :D

Sorry for the blatant plug.  ;)

« on: 29 September 2011, 06:19:25 pm »
"They all do that Sir!"

There is a bearing and a metal bush - several in fact - and play does develop.

If you swap out all the bearings, bushes and dust seals, you will be about £70 worse off.

And you will still have play.... :'(

Many Yam's are the same - I helped on an MoT on a 57 plate R6 yesterday and..... it had a small amount of play in the linkages.

Mine was red on an 02 plate. Seen quite a few of the same colour on 02 as well.

The 01's didn't sell that well when they were launched so possible they are all late regs.

Main point is that there are no mechanical differences between 01 and 02 anyway.

Ride more, worry less!
