FZS600 Fazer / Re: delkevic exhaust sizes
« on: 07 December 2014, 06:30:29 pm »
I have a delkevic 350mm end can, and I have to say I'm very pleased with it. Loud enough but not too loud that you would upset the neighbours. It has a baffle but I don't have it in as it has a nice crackle and pop on overrun. As for the quality, again I am very happy with it. Welds are very nice and neat (far better than the blue flame can that's on my VFR) Also price wise for what you get you can't go wrong.

I think pressing the fazer stem into the r1 bottom yoke would be the best option as the bearings will all be right. May need to space the top yoke judging by what the fazer 1000 guys are doing.
Getting the Speedo pick up in to the r1 wheel may be more of a challenge.

I've seen on the fazer 1000 pages they press out the stem from their original yoke and press it into the r1 bottom yoke and the line drill and pin it for added security.

I don't have to worry about fairing in my fazer as ive taken it off and going the naked route. So running my renthal flat bar should be fine.

I'll be using a 5 spoke r1 front wheel from a 2004-2006 model.

I've heard a few people mention that there is a few fzs600's running r1 front ends. I'm just trying to find some info on them.

Hi all.
Is the fzs600 steering stem the same as the fzs1000 stem?
I'm currently looking into fitting r1 front end from 2005 model but all of the info I've so far relates to fitting to a fzs1000. Is there much difference between the fzs600 and fzs1000?

Does anyone know what type/make of adhesive is used to glue the plastic lens section to the rear housing on the standard fazer unit?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Straightening a bent bar.
« on: 18 September 2014, 06:06:22 pm »
Just a quick update. I used a bit of scaffold tube and a some guys to hold the bike. It started to bend back but snapped before it was in a suitable position. I kind of already knew it was going to snap being bent so far out of shape and then bent back, an aftermarket alloy bar was never going to have that.
So this evening I had the wonderful pleasure of driving home in a smart car! On the upside I have a renthal flat bar on it's way to me for tomorrow morning.
Now time for some more pain killers and off to the pub!

Had an unfortunate incident with a twat forcing me into a truck while filtering. Managed to keep the bike upright somehow but bent the left hand side so it looks like more of a clip on! Haha.
Need to straighten it so I can get home from work. Is it likely that it will work harden and snap before I can get it somewhere near the original position?

Think I'll space it up a little once the paint has dried. Tempted to trim the hugger part too as it looks a little too long and out of place.

Was thinking of spacing it a little more just in case it flexes too much.
Although I'm not sure I like the look of the hugger on a fazer. Maybe because it's still gel coat white.

FZS600 Fazer / Rear hugger clearance
« on: 09 September 2014, 10:25:29 am »
Hi everyone.
Just bought a rear hugger for my fazer. Ive trial fitted it and the clearance between the rear of the mudguard section and the wheel is only about 6mm. Is this an acceptable gap or do I need to increase it?

Thanks.

It was just that time, most odd. It's been serviced recently. It was more annoying at the time as I really wanted to ride it to work so I could fit my r6 rear suspension.

Left the barrel in the top yoke. Checked the connections, all ok.
Maybe my fazer doesn't 6am cold morning starts! Aww bless!  :lol

« on: 21 August 2014, 05:58:00 pm »
Tried starting the fazer this morning and it just turned over, occasionally catching then cutting out. Tried all kinds of ways of starting......... And nothing. Gave up as battery was starting to struggle and wheeled it back in and took the car.
Came home this evening. Switched ignition on, fuel pump primed. Pumped throttle and it fired into life without I hint of a struggle!
So annoying! I had only taken the top yoke off recently to make up a bracket along with wrapping the rear fairing!

They are made by Bilstein and nice units, but unfortunately too large and not to mention pricey (even with discount) for me!  :'(

Indeed I do. I might take it all into work and do it there. Plenty of axle stands and ramps. Might look a little out of place though, in a workshop full of Aston Martin's  :lol

My fazer doesn't have the centre stand fitted from when I bought it unfortunately. Bugger!

I'm going to fit my r6 suspension and dog bones soon. Is it a fairly straightforward job with it up on some paddock stands or do I have to remove the swing arm to do it?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: fitting R6 or R1 speedo clocks to a fazer?
« on: 15 August 2014, 08:03:48 pm »
I liked the idea of fitting a r6 or r1 dash as it was similar in looks and size to the koso item I've been looking at. But it's £200+ so thought the r6 unit may have been more cost effective. Also the r6 unit would fit better in the speed triple fairing I'm trying to graft on along with the headlight internals from a DB9 (hid dipped halogen main) I've acquired from work.  :rolleyes :D

FZS600 Fazer / fitting R6 or R1 speedo clocks to a fazer?
« on: 14 August 2014, 09:01:41 am »
Has anyone attempted this mod with any success? Was thinking about it last night. Should be fairly straight forward. My only concern was how to adjust the odometer to the correct mileage.

Cheers Dcurzon. I was thinking about 700lb would be suitable for me as I'll never have a top box or luggage but will occasionally take the missus out on the back. Maybe worth upping it to 725lb. What was the standard fazer spring rate? I know direct comparison can't be made as the r6 damper is shorter etc. I've PM'd kebab19 about getting conversion bits.
Can't wait to sort the saggy arse end of my fazer. Then I can fit the r1 front end I've got turning up soon!  :D

Excellent. Any chance of a price list for the parts required via here or PM or email? Take it's just dog bones, spacer for the spring and the top hat spacers for the m10 bolt? Will be glad when it's on there as I'm getting tired of my fazer's wobbly rear end!  :-)

Ah that's a shame. Again thanks for the info.
Just bought the right one from eBay. Does the different colour spring indicate what poundage it is?
Are you still stocking/sourcing the correct dog bones etc for the conversion? I'm around 14st kitted up so would guess I'd need to be up near the 700lb spring rate to keep the correct sag?

Thanks for the info. I think was yourself who posted (on a separate post) two photos of r6 shocks and said that one wouldn't fit on the fazer "even with a hammer!"
Why won't that model shock fit the fazer (separate adjuster version)? I only ask as ive seen a few of those on eBay for sale? I would find a photo of the shock I'm on about but I'm on my phone and it's prooving awkward to post a photo!
