Ordering new tyres....
« on: 14 June 2015, 07:59:59 pm »
Hi guys.
Looking to order new tyres for my Fz1 this week, the BT021's that it currently has are not great... plenty tread left but look tired...
Anyway after a quick search I will probably go for some Michelin Pilot Road 3, don't need anything too sticky just a good all rounder.
So can anyone point me towards the best deals for these or feel happy to recommend other brands  :)
Cheers.

I normally buy my own then get them fitted by my mechanic.

I usually pop down FWR in Kennington. Dunno if that's too far for you or not. I work in the centre, and as they usually turn a tyre round in half hour or so, they're great for popping in during a lunch break.

My mate has PR3's on his honda crossrunner and swears by them, he also says they stick like s***, give great feedback and don't even look worn after 1000's miles on them, I will be getting them when I need to replace mine on my fzs600 :)

I got a pair of PR3's from tyreleader for the 600. They come from France or Germany but only took a few days and you can track their progress. No problems and I don't mind fitting them myself but I think I will pay a bit more and support my local one man dealer next time.

I used tyreleader.co.uk for the first time recently.

Price was excellent, I think it was around £140 for a pair of BT023.

Both tyres were checked carefully on arrival and the date of manufacture etc were good. Beads undamaged.

Delivery took some time as the front came from France within 48 hours while the rear came from Germany and took a few days longer. Suggest order in good time for when you need them.

But then strapped to the back of the bike and fitted by my local mechanic.

Still running on Michelin Road pilot 2s Front and Rear for the last 11500 miles and still not down to the wear markers yet--Whoopdeedo, and I have bought the same replacement tyres from "Stickystuff" for £165 delivered (bike BMWR1200R MU) not fitted yet. :pc

I had the PR2's on my last 600 which were very nice. I've not long got PR4's on my thou which are very nice as well and seem to be wearing fine.

I usually do the same as you, but from black circles/oponeo/camskill and then get them fitted local for £20 (I remove the wheels too and take those down)

FWIW. I've started buying the tyres over winter as they usually have slightly better offers going, and the bike is normally off the road anyway.

I am not sure about this milage thing with tyres,, I thought mine did not last long but bike fully loaded for Italy trip,,plenty of pace,,10 laps of Nurberg ring gp track and back home now and the tyres do not show much wear at all,,i am so pleased as I thought it woyuld half kill them,,i did 3,450 miles on the trip,,metzelers z8 interact, the cheaper ones,,as there are 2 or 3 of the same tyre,,odd,,

What would you expect from the Pirelli pr3s ?

I've been using PR3/4's on my last couple of bikes but when I picked up my FZ1 it had an almost new set of Pirelli Angel GT's which in the 2-3 hundred miles I've done I really rate them much to the glee of my mate who runs them on his Multistrada and swears by them

I used tyreleader recently for a new set of alloys for the car. Very good price, delivered in perfect condition and delivered earlier than expected. I'll use them again.
