Front sprocket + 1 tooth

(1/1)

Fergie in France:

Hello.

I've read somewhere that you can go up one tooth on the front sprocket to lower the gearing without changing either chain or rear sprocket  (bikes only done 15,500 kms so in excellent condition)  if I can then I guess one with a cush drive would be best ? has anyone done it, and recommend a particulat sprocket... any help appreciated.

It's just to try out as we have long roads and sweeping bends here, and it'd be nice to drop the revs a bit.

Also for some reason since I joined,  I can't use the search button..

Thank you

By going up one tooth on the gearbox sprocket, you'll be raising the gearing not lowering it. However that will be the correct way to go if you want to lower the revs for a given speed. You will of course lose out a little acceleration wise, as well as engine braking won't be quite what you're accustomed to. I've an idea that Ognibene do a damped suitable front sprocket, but no doubt someone will be along to confirm whether this is correct or not.

Thanks Robbo, yes sorry,  I ment raising it, confused with lowering the revs....durrrrrrr.

I'll check that sprocket out on the net...

Try Bike Torque Racing +44 1373464252. I've used them a few times, really helpful.
Good luck :thumbup
