Speed Related Whine

(1/3) > >>

Middy2000:

After a winter being laid up and a recent MOT I've started using the old girl again.

I've noticed I have a speed related whine.  When I slow at a junction the noise slows accordingly.

Seems to be from the front.

Some things to check would be ideal.

Could it be the front brake binding?
Speedo cable dry?
Front Sprocket?

mtread:
Speedo drive rotor dry? Mine made a squeal. Finger full of grease solved it.

Grahamm:
Did you lube the chain? Check the front sprocket for wear (eg hooking of the teeth).

BBROWN1664:
Did you put your earplugs in?
Could be the normal "wind noise" from the front trye

darrsi:
Have you moved the rear wheel at all, or altered the chain?
Could be the chain rubbing a new path on the plastic chain guide. If it is that it will ease down after a while.
This especially happens if you upgrade your chain to a heavier duty one.
