skullcandy low rider headphones in crosser helmet is the best and easiest option (did this back in the 50cc 125cc days)

if like me you replace the whole filter (im not sure if its possible to just replace the inside)
you will need:
a screw driver (pointier the better) and a hammer

step 1: using the hammer hit the screw driver into the oil filter
step 2: use the screwdriver to turn the oil filter and take it off the bike
step 3: screw on new filter by hand should be able to get it tight enough using your hands mines never lost oil and i have always hand tightend the oil filter

possibly get some 'brasso' chrome polish from tesco and do that after cleaning the rim let it dry etc then lacquor may give you a better finish,

if the wheels have never been painted get some strong nail polish remover or thinners and rub on the area where you dont want the black paint anymore use some masking tape on the center and after a little rubbing it will go to the steel of the wheel just do this wash it dry it leave it a while then lacquer it to stop rust.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: trx 850 swingarm
« on: 12 April 2012, 12:21:39 am »
well i realized this after a lot of searching :(
if any one cares though the fazer swing arm pivot width is 240mm i think (measured yesterday)

a vfr 750 (mk2?) swingarm is around 135mm i think so if someone ever wanted try it, it is possible but i came to the point where i decided that it would be hard the align the sprocket etc so i gave up, oh well i think i will just buy an r6 swingarm with brace and grind it off and get someone capable to tig weld it on (with a little modification)

thanks for replys anyway

FZS600 Fazer / trx 850 swingarm
« on: 09 April 2012, 06:55:57 pm »
hi, ok
i saw this on a few thread lower down,
just wondering does anyone know if it will actually fit ok,
im not bothered about the length being a few mm shorter to be honest, i would like to put one on my bike (due to paddock lugs) as i dont want to weld or drill/tap my stock swingarm mainly do to the fact i dont know how strong it would be e.g. could it actually take the bikes weight.

i already have the thou real caliper so im guessing if the swingarm fits without machining i would just need the torque arm and caliper bracket as well as swingarm obv from the trx 850?

im assuming shock linkages are the same??

anyone give me some more information into this or a general swingarm swap for fzs 600 (swingarm from another bike)

basically 2nd gear is focced

FZS600 Fazer / cleaning fazer shiney engine ?
« on: 26 March 2012, 10:58:08 pm »
right so i have seen alot of fazers with really glossy nice showroom looking engines, the question is how to you get them like that, shoe polish wax etc.
i can get mine looking good but some look like they have just been painted.
im really hoping these fazers arnt owned by sunday rider but are owned by commuters

so if anyone knows how or any other cleaning tips (getting brake calipers to a newish black not a greyish black)

thanks

im sure the thundercat uses a bigger wheel so unless on the furthest back setting on swingarm doubt it tbh

different swingarms

yeah i ment that lol and your personal choice
i suppose you could make a lap timer and an odometer using the micro computer

Electrical and Electronic engineers  ;)
and looking at your board its more a case of writing the assembly code,
the speedo drive goes into a 3 wire connector im not too sure ec what each wire is.
RED-          (POSSIBLY 5V?)
WHITE-      (POSSIBLY GROUND)
BLACK-      (POSSIBLY NEUTRAL)
either way it should give a digital output (square wave) for each rotation it sends a voltage which would register as a one, all basic stuff really.

Alternatively get a fzr (cable drive speedo pickup) fit it to your fzs then just buy a cheap analogue gauge (£30 on ebay i think) then simply just make a circuit for the rev counter ....

infact i had an idea for a new dash setup here it is sorry for babbling on about it.....

some skills in DIYpatients wire    ://egscontrols.com/thhn_wire_1.jpgsoldering kit (possibly?)   http://www.toolstation.com/images/library/stock/webbig/57891.jpg5 blue leds            (fuel gauge)    http://www.sciencephoto.com/image/346754/large/T3560583-Blue_LED-SPL.jpghere goes...basically make a small op amp circuit to amplifier ---------------- THIS IS PART A wrap wire around the ht lead, possibly 4 coils and secure with tape -----------------this is part Buse part a as an input to part b------------this amplifies the signal into a usable range tap of resistor of different values (you will have to determine this) set the resistors so that when the output voltage from the amplifier turns on a led as you increase rpm therefor voltage or current something like that more leds will light up

the same principle applys for the fuel gauge using the original fuel sensor as the voltage input

then as for the speedo just replace stock fzs drive with the fzr cable drive and then screw into the analogue cable speedo

not sure what links im allowed to post but oh well..

lots of errors above very sorry, i need sleep..

for rpm just wrap some wire around the spark plug ht lead, 4 coils should do then set your equipment to measure the rpms trial and error comparing to the rpm displayed on speedo may be easiest HOWEVER ONCE YOU HAVE GOT IT WORKING DONT CHANGE THE AMOUNT OF COILS AROUND THE HT LEAD AS THIS WILL CHANGE THE EQUATION SINCE THE ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD IS CUTTING THROUGH MORE WIRES INDUCING A LARGER CURRENT...

As for speedo it depends on your circuit are you using a microcomputer or just adapting a pushbike speedo
if using a microcomputer (coded in hex) calculate the distance for 1 meter, convert to miles and then take the number of turns taken and.. i hope you get the idea
as for neutral light just tap off the existing one
