It had to come,  having lived here  for 20 years there has always been talk of MOT-ing bikes, finally, starting in April its going ahead for the first time ever...
The reason for not having a test is that goverments own statistics proved there is no connection between accidents caused by bad maintenance, the French way of taking your own responsibility  of keeping your machine serviced, after all, its your life... However, the new test is basicly a visual check, and lasts for 3 years, so in a way pretty pointless. Having had tests every yesr in the UK its no big deal for me, and at less than 50 euro not expensive.... c'est la vie.

Try Bike Torque Racing +44 1373464252. I've used them a few times, really helpful.
Good luck :thumbup

Thanks Robbo, sorry for the delay,  I'm not getting any email notifications...just re-vamped my profile so hopefully will get them daily...

Hello.

I've read somewhere that you can go up one tooth on the front sprocket to lower the gearing without changing either chain or rear sprocket  (bikes only done 15,500 kms so in excellent condition)  if I can then I guess one with a cush drive would be best ? has anyone done it, and recommend a particulat sprocket... any help appreciated.

It's just to try out as we have long roads and sweeping bends here, and it'd be nice to drop the revs a bit.

Also for some reason since I joined,  I can't use the search button..

Thank you

I'm using Firefox on a PC, so you may see a slightly different screen to me, but I just tried searching for Oil and "Fergie in France" and your above post came up.

Without your name, I got 30 results.

Can you try using a different browser?

Graham...I'll go on our desk top computer and try Linux or Firefox to see it that fixes it.

Make sure you use the search button on screen on the right hand side.
It doesn't do anything if you hit go on your keyboard.

There is no search on the r.h.s. that's  some of the problem I guess  :eek

I've just tried using the search box at the top right of the page and also the one in the Home/ Forum/ Help/ Links/ Search menu bar and both of those seem to generate results ok, so I'm not sure why you're having an issue.

Are you using PC or phone? Which browser are you using? Do you have any script/ cooking blocking software installed?

Graham,  thanks for your reply... I can't see any search top right of the page ?
I used the other one you mentioned and I've just tried it again by putting in "oil", then my name, and nothing...
I'm using a tablet on Google chrome...  I've had no trouble on the other Yamaha forum ( XJR ) or any of the other forums I belong to....strange .
Any thing else I can do ?

Hello,

First post apart from introducing myself

I've been trying to use the search button to find topics that I need ( brakes, oils, clutch cable etc ) for my newly purchased Fzs,  but whatever I type in to the search panel it always comes back with nothing, I guess I'm doing something wrong ? Help appreciate

Just one quick question while I'm here,  I've got 5 X 2 litre cans of fully synthetic  10 W 50  ( bargain price at a local dealers last year) is it ok for a 2003 600 ?

Thanks for any help on the above

Nope, just around the corner, in French terms... we're about an hour from Rennes.

Do you go to Porcaro in August  ?

We have a British bike club here, lots of members,  but only about 15 active that are up for the ride-outs, lots of balads in the warmer weather, from 200 to 400kms depending.

Bonjour

In my mid seventies now, sadly the XJR has to go, its getting a bit heavy for moving around, but I'm still keeping with a Yamaha.
a 2003 but with only 15000 kms, needs a good tidy, but I'm good at that.
No doubt be on here for a few tips.
