Tidy bike Andy.
If I only had room Mmmmmmm.

Dya realise you've parked directly over what looks like 3 dog turds mate, ruins ya pics. :lol

Actually its chunks of moss from the roof. The birds like to pick at it and it rolls off the roof. So used to seeing it I'm kinda blind to it now.

Bike is still available should anyone be interested.

Forgot to mention - has two original keys with two working alarm/immobiliser fobs.

If anyone wants to weigh in on what they think it's worth, or other good places to advertise, I'd appreciate it.  It's not a show bike by any means, but it really falls more into 'modern classic' rather than a used bike having seen 19 years of serious use, which seems to be what dealers base their pricing on.

Bike Make : Yamaha

Bike Model : Fazer FZS600

Year : 2003

Price : £ no fixed price but willing to consider reasonable offers

MOT: May 2023

Mileage : 9,900 Miles

Colour : Blue

Extras : Datatag, Meta M357T alarm/immobiliser, Micron end can (have original Yamaha one), Yamaha Touring Screen (have original screen), Front fender extender, Rear hugger, High Capacity Scottoiler.

Overall Bike Condition :  Owned by me from brand new. Originally supplied by Brian Gray's Powerbiking. Garaged, Dry use only, not used a lot due to injury, but maintained nonetheless. Stood next to it, this bike looks great, and certainly nothing like 19 years old, but there are a few little blemishes I'll mention: Dropped once in a gravel car park which resulted in a small ding on the original Yamaha end can and scratched the paint on the clutch cover, small crack underneath front fairing not visible unless you go looking for it. Hole drilled in side cover for a charging socket, which has since been removed. Small 1cm ding in seat cover covered in tape. Everything works fine.
Tyre/Chain/Sprocket Condition : Front tyre near limit, back tyre fine. Chain and sprockets have seen very little wear due to low mileage and use of scottoiler.  I have a relaxed riding style, so the bike has not been stressed!

Service History/Receipts/Recent Service work : Serviced by me regardless of use. Last service in March 2022: Air filter, Oil and filter, Spark plugs and Coils and Plug caps, Coolant drained and replaced, New brake pads and fluid, Carburettor overhaul and ultrasonic clean. March 2021: Air filter, Oil and filter. New battery.

Non Restricted/Shop Restricted/Factory Restricted : Unrestricted.

Bike Location : High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire

Any Other Relevant Info : I'd love this bike to go to an enthusiast who'll care for it as much as I do. Why am I selling? It isn't being used enough to justify the upkeep.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Pilot screw
« on: 12 June 2022, 02:09:48 pm »
Thanks everyone... new coil packs came today - installed and make no difference.

Started it on choke and then released choke after a few seconds. After a few minutes running exhaust header pipes were:

#1: 41 degrees C
#2:138 degrees C
#3: 142 degrees C
#4: 140 degrees C

No debris or rust in tank or filter. Next step will be to remove carb again and re-check pilot jet for blockages.

Anyone know approx cost of having a setup done by a professional with the right equipment?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Pilot screw
« on: 10 June 2022, 08:17:08 pm »
After not using my Fazer much last year due to injury, I had engine running problems which I attributed to a gummed up carb. Cleaning spray and redex would help a bit but not for long.

So I bit the bullet and removed the carbs to clean... I recorded how many turns out the pilot screws were (about 2.25-2.5) and put all the jets and needles etc in the ultrasonic cleaner with some cleaning fluid diluted with distilled water. All good, except I spilled some coolant on one of the spark plugs when removing the carb, which seemed to cause that plug to not spark. Replacement spark plugs and NGK connectors were fitted. Leads trimmed a bit to get fresh conductor.  Everything went back together OK.

Next, I did the balancing using some vacuum gauges. This was a nightmare and took quite a while. It seemed I could get it pretty much on-point but then a few minutes later it'd be way off again. I iterated around and managed to get to something that was roughly consistent.

But... it sounds "wrong" like it's running on 3 cylinders when idling. Exhaust from cylinder #1 measures about 30 degrees cooler than the other three cylinders. Have tweaked the pilot screw back and forth on #1 +/- 1 turn and it hasn't made a difference.

I had an MOT this week and the guy said it sounds like the Pilot is really badly adjusted, or its a dodgy coil pack. I ordered a couple of coil packs to try - should be here next week.

When riding on throttle it sounds better and feels like it has full power (not like it did when running on 3 with the wet plug).

Beginning to get to the end of my tether on this - If the coil packs don't fix it, I have to send it for a proper carb setup at the workshop... before I do, does anyone have any words of wisdom?
