So you're a fan of rimming, how about leaving the stock coating on and polish the rims

My mates Fs1e does 90, in 1st, up hill,
2 up, head wind. Its sick

That's wank.....my AP50 does 96, in 1st, up hill, 3 up, 60 mph head wind. Its well sick
That's focall, my dadsfantic chopper had a turbo and nitrous  oxide and he fitted the gearbox out of a Massey furgesen tractor to handle the power, it could do 120 in first backwards, it was so fast in top he had to fit tile's from the space shuttle to his helmet to stop the friction from frying his eyeballs, the police once tried to prosecute him for speeding but when the finally caught up with him they found he had got home before he started
Now that's sick

Yes I am a granma sucking eggs but I am still open to focer wisdom, especially if I have always sucked eggs the same way.

That's right no rain for me but I might ride through wet damp patches and I think it also rots from the inside.

Chem metal then, sounds like I will give that a try instead of gun gum

Here is my holes last year after I had cleaned it all off with a wire wheel on a drill being on a curve how easy it it to weld a piece over it and how much would that cost over a new exhaust

Job when done last year

More water will pass through the inside of an exhaust than it will ever see on the outside, thats why short journeys are bad for your exhaust system. Did mech engineering at college and seem to remember a figure of something stupid like 8 gallons of water vapour to 1 gallon of fuel.

Have you considered removing the balance pipes and have the holes patched up, cant imagine it making that much difference to the running of the bike and should prolong the life of those pipes

I know a good welder here in Grantham (not a million miles from you) and he's not expensive

Fighting a battle with a couple of small holes in the collector box of my headers, the last time I did them was last year with rustoleum high temp after a member on here had good results with, I did prep the area very well and filled with gun gum but the rust has come back along with pushing off the filler.
Can anyone recommend a rust killer- are they any good or not.

A man who wont ride in the rain suffering with rust...........................The irony lol  :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin

The switch is a right **** to change.  I ended up cutting the old one to pieces to remove it.  Sometimes a good spray with wd40 or similar can get it working again

The lights shouldn't dim when you try and start it in gear since no power is going to the starter motor but from the other symptoms sounds like it is the sidestand switch.

Bypass the focer, please remember to raise it before setting off

108
I'm pretty sure I used to be able to do this but it's not working at the moment.

If I'm in first gear (side stand up) and stall the bike, If In pull in the clutch should I be able to start the bike?

At the moment if I do the lights on the dash dim but it doesn't start, I have to put it into neutral and then start.

This is a bit of a pain at light sometimes.

Thanks.

Sidestand switch?

Hiya fellas,

As per title really. Got my eyes on a couple of nice modded VW T5/6 campervans and looking to drag a bike around with me on a towbar. Has anyone used/got one from Dave Cooper? They seem good value. Any others I've missed which are better. I know most take trailie bikes and can't locate one that would take the Fazer so advice as always appreciated  :thumbup

Hmmm, not for me thanks.

Darrsi- didn't you once buy some mega cheap oil off fleabay?

+1 on the great find

I've just ordered 5 ltr of 10 40 semi syn car oil for £10.99 for what will become chain lube after flushing out swarf from the ZZR's sump (sump plug need tapping) And was considering getting similar to fill it with after although after seeing your link I think I'll go with that.

Found this article thats worth a read re using car oils in motorcycle engines.

It was cheaper than the big brands, by a British firm called Westway Lubricants. Thought i'd try the fully synthetic stuff for a change and i will probably only buy that from now on.

Yeah I'd be focin mad if I got that bill. Local garage £120 to shim and balance carbs, £60 to strip and rebuild carbs inc setting float heights. Foc me I'd have change for a pair of tyre's

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Rear sprocket bolts
« on: 23 March 2017, 02:50:50 pm »
I changed the sprocket on mine recently. The nuts that were on there were blue anodised aluminium. I don't trust aluminium nuts, particularly so when I don't know how long they've been on, how tight and how many times removed, so I got a stainless steel set from Pro-Bolt. They're nice and shiny, but not cheap at nearly 25 quid including postage.
Aluminium would be an unusual material to make nuts from, are you sure they weren't titanium?
They have steel inserts inside them

Pro bolt are nice quality but well over priced

I can view the BT stream via cricfreetv, it has most of the sport channels.

Many cant get access as it asks them for a login, I have it saved in bookmarks in firefox and chrome and if one doesn't work for whatever reason the other always seems to.

Worth a look

Always had a thing about the tin whistle, saw a local folk band many moons ago and this lass blew the rest of the group into the weeds with a £1.00 instrument.

Anything 'cafe racer' - Remove fairing, add clamp on handlebars and ridiculously thin seat (comfort gone), remove tail and underseat section (practical storage and pillion carrying capability gone), remove airbox (engine performance and smooth running gone), fit radial tyres (handling gone). Looks good though...

If you want practical buy a car................

Breaking my ankle on my Triumph Bonnie 40 years ago last week. Only time I have ever broken any bones on a motorbike.
I was shagging my bird who was up front with her back to the petrol tank. Just as I was getting to the vinegar strokes the fecking bike fell off the centre stand and over we went. You try picking up a Bonnie with a, as it turned out broken ankle. Better still try kick starting it as well and riding it home.My Dad had to cut my boot off my ankle was so swollen.
Next day my girl friends Dad is round kicking off about her arms and knees being skinned and how I was never to take her on the bike again. If he only had known the truth about how his daughter was being taken lol.
