Sat Nav Mounting for Zumo 660
« on: 29 January 2013, 01:31:02 pm »
Hi,

I had before a quest which was mounted on a ram mount by the clutch so before I mount the zumo has anyone got ideas as to the best place to fix the sat nav? Same place, in the centre, etc..

If you have any pictures with bike and gps please post,

thanks.

Thanks for the pictures, that is where I had mounted the quest, so the zumo might go in the same place.

Tmation like the looks of the screen in the top photo, how'd you do that.

I'd say that's about the best place to put one, be careful though that you don't block off the speedo with the satnav holder and remember the 660 is wider so once on you'll prob have to use it as the speedo as well.

I have a 660 and couldn't decide where to mount it, not keen on the ram mount on the bars as I wanted it more in my line of sight and out the way a bit more. Ended up making a  bracket mounted on the back of the clocks and then over the top of them, it obscures the tacho slightly but I don't find this an issue and without the sat nav mounted all is clear. I used some cardboard to make a template then cut and bent some aluminium I had lying around.

not he best photos but you get the idea

Got round to fitting the sat nav today, using the ram mount on the left handlebar, similar to Tmation's 550. Wired in so that I can remove the cradle and wire when the sat nav is not being used, only the ball mount is left on the bars.

Thanks for all the pictures,

Don.
