Ixil Titanium Double Side Exhaust Cans
« on: 29 April 2012, 09:45:07 am »
Hi how do these fit into the standard down pipes? and will i have to permanently remove the belly pan?
Also i use give luggage (with side racks) will these cans still allow this or will i have to put spacers in and longer bolts so as get more clearance (similar to how the rear pegs fit in his pics)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330721617408

opinions on how they would look too please on this

They fit to the standard downpipes behind the EXUP valve (same as the can you have now) and I believe there is a link pipe that joins the two under the swing arm (i think you can just see it between the swing arm and main stand. You will loose the side cases as they wont fit and you have to change the indicators as I read somewhere that the standard ones melt in the exhaust outlet flow.

A good polish up and they will be fine, I prefer the 4 into 1 look myself, but can see the appeal of twin cans.

Good luck on the bid.

Sound like more trouble than they're worth to me. Extra weight too.  :( Twin cans on a TRX look good.  :)

Same thoughts as me, probably effect fuelling / performance, passengers are going to get very hot thighs, side racks will have to come out a ways so luggage doesn't melt, the bike will probably look weird when the boxes are fitted as they'll be sticking out and don't know how this will effect handling.

you saying my bike is that too?? :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

rarely carry pillions and luggage poss half a dozen times a year but do see the probs it causes to both, weight wise poss not much diff as cans are titanium and lighter than my can, handing wise, its an even weight distribution how would it effect it? power wise the bike is ivanised and would twin cans effect this?

Stand on one foot hold 2 weights close by you and lean to one side, then repeat with the weights at arms length - with the weight further out you'll tip over quicker.
Oh and I take no responsibility if you injure yourself carrying out the above experiment either with yourself or with your bike  :D

It's Bout looks and choice. I like the idea of twin pipes or even 4 :0

I can't afford them but would've liked them.

i dont race it around the twisties and rarely go over 120 on the straight   :evil kph of course  :rolleyes :rolleyes so handling not much of an issue as it would still corner ok as long as am not a rossi wannabe.
looks is the important thing as long as it is viably practical which brings me back to the panniers the spacers on the footpegs look about 70ml max so panniers would have to be spaced by that each side means bike fully loaded an extra 140ml wide. Rideable???

ixil don't list a twin cam system on their website. it is my intention to fabricate / have made a twin system for mine when time and funds allow (i have a very different solution in mind) so i gave this listing some thought.

personally i don't like the look of high level cans, especially when the link pipe runs outside the swingarm to achieve the height rise, it always looks like an after thought (which it is). but worse than that on this one there's the massive brackets and spacers to hang the cans and push the pillion foot pegs out which look even more of an after thought!

it may look ok from the back (subjectively) but the rest of it looks way too home made / work around for my liking.
is it clean enough?

had a good look the advert. the first time a pillion gets on the bike the footrest will fold in. it's sooooo heath robinson. if you never carry a pillion then it's not a problem, but it does look like a lash up........................unlike your lovely bike :D

Yeah for me I would lose the pilion pegs anyway and only ever have a top box no side gubbins. I doubt I would do it if I had to keep both of those. I had a high level can once and it was much better without the rear peg extender mess.
And yes I did melt my oe indicator LOL untill I fitted a stuby can.
I do agree twin cans would look better not routed around the outside but that's the off the shelf affter market way sadly.

cant lose the luggage permanently and agree it looks made up lol however twin cans is a sweet look for me so what you think about mounting them at the level my current can is just get two other link pipes hopefully use my current one but would need the other side made up as bend is wrong way. maybe????

I wonder why the owner is selling them in the first place.
