hi stevie,bri.....start time at saffron is 11.00am (atm  :rolleyes  )...we could go via chesham, hemel hempstead way,not sure of the route there after but i have a map you know  :D ....HW to HH is a 40 min ride + what we have to get to SW so i would say 90mins in total...how about 9 / 9.15 at HW cinema.....dont forget we loose an hour,is that too early ?
I know the route to saffron from there so you can meet me in Hemel if you want!

hi punkstig....yeh could do.where in hemel, I'll probs come down through bovington turn right and head out via aspley....how about moores the yam dealer ?
If you're coming through Bovingdon then we can meet at hemel train station.

It's an hour journey so best meet before about 9.45

Quickest route to saffron will be 414, A1m, 505, we can meet deadeye and dimitis at 505 roundabout with London Road about 10.20/30

coming back will be m11, a120, a10, 414 which is a nicer end to the day.

The A505 junction is less than a mile from my place and has a Shell fuel station so that works perfectly for me :) The next junction of the A1M is the A507 which has services if anyone needs them which again has a Shell fuel station.

All those comming from Essex & East London, we could meet at the Thurrock Services and wait for the Kent contingent or at the Tea Hut at High Beach, any preferences?????

we (dazza, me, Midden and Grandma) would poss need to leave earlier then, it's an hour from Nell's to Saffron, might be best if people just get to Saffron, if we have too many stops waiting for people we may never get there..............

... I don't get it

I didn't mention it was Baldock services, just that it was the junction with the A507. Not sure it matters either way given that I stated it was the next junction up - was just in case anyone wanted to stop for coffee or tea as well as fuel etc

I seem to remember that the A507 from Baldock to Buntingford is a cracking bit of road. A good warm-up for those approaching from the west perhaps.

Yep that makes sense. I could catch you up the other side of the tunnel etc, but then we'd stop for tea and a bite and never get there. So will meet at Saffron

Definitely one of the nice bits of road around here :) I do it fairly often as I travel to Hoddesdon / Harlow and down to Enfield occasionally though I've only done it a few times on the bike.

I'll be getting out on the bike as much as I can this weekend if it is dry so that I can scrub in the tyres. I'm still riding a bit like a nun after the last spill and the bike just hasn't felt planted at all - like I'm riding on ice or something. Hopefully I'll get that out of my system before the 29th ;)

No Christo you may not use the bike if I don't... *sighs* god damn students  :rolleyes (Just getting that cleared up BEFORE he asks...)

Either is good for me, I'd suggested an 0930(happy to meet earlier) meet at Thurrock services to get to High Beach for 10(ish) allows for a quick cuppa and blast to Saffron.

On route meeting points are just that, I'm sure we'll all be getting coffee at saffron, that newish macdonslds on the 505 is probably an easier spot as it's then enroute!

Hmmm, High Beach meeting point could mean doing the Dunmow/Finchingfield road on the way up to Saffron. Or going with red98 could mean doing the Baldock to Buntingford road. Decisions, decisions... :lol

Doh! Just noticed I've got a clash on the 29th, out on an observed ride with IAM (had originally thought it was this Sunday). However, I will likely be out and about on bike not too far away (usually finish up around Harlow, Epping area). If I could pin down where you may be around 1-2pm ish, I could probably try to rendezvous with you all.

And double doh! Come to think of it, I probably won't have my bike back in time.

(No Luke, not a prompt to hurry up mate, I said take as long as you need, just forgot how soon this ride is!)

At risk of  :hijack  here, so suffice to say, handling=more important than cosmetics. Besides, most of the spending is already done on the forks.
