Always worked for me, except on a sunny day when the usherette would notice a sudden shaft of bright light piercing the darkness .Didn't have pal's rich enough to go to the cinema - in my day.................. You just needed enough for one ticket, then he'd let everyone else in. Telling your Mum that the subs at cubs was 6d, when in fact it was 3d, always guaranteed a bag of chips on the way home. Happy days

Never mind about decimal. I can remember when rationing on sweets ended. No doubt dentists earned a fortune within a few years of that happening .

My recent dealings with the dentist, optician and vet, have all resulted in considerable wallet pain . Wish I’d paid more attention at school .
What annoys me is if you’re on some kind of benefit, you just rock up at your local Blue Cross, have a shed load of surgery performed on your pet, Chuck £20 in the donations box……happy days.Last year our cat came home with damage to his tail, apparently the term is “gloving”. The bill was £700 to have the tip of his tail removed. I’ll never get a newer bike at this rate

I’ll never get a newer bike at this rate We had a Vizla/Labrador who liked socks. £650.00 to extract a sock from his stomach (and that was a few years ago). When he became ill and died (of something completely unrelated) the total (including cremation) was over £2000.00.These incidents (and many others) give me ideal reasons to work when the grandkids show up.

Wow. That just underlines how expensive the true cost of pet ownership can be. Good grandkids avoidance ploy as well .........every cloud

You can't be too careful when you're involved in the higher echelons of skullduggery

Just realised your rally is the Bank Holiday weekend, in two weekends time. I'd keep a very low profile, be invisible even, in the mean time, as I'd hate to see your plans come undone by some last minute plotting by, you know who
