FZS600 Fazer / Re: 98 FZS rear caliper« on: 22 November 2012, 05:38:13 pm »
Thanks for the feedback. I plan to find a local machine shop that can remove it and hopefully fit a new M8x1.25 nipple. If that can't happen then I'll remember the alternative calipers you suggest.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Low speed bump, expensive costs, i don't want to scrap it, help needed please« on: 21 November 2012, 05:18:43 pm »
Some of those prices are laughable. £539 for a 'muffler'! Yeah right!
Here is a link to a new upper fairing (in primer) for £139. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-FZS600-FZS-600-Fazer-Front-Nose-Fairing-1998-1999-2000-2001-/400320312784?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item5d34f335d0 32

I have just today replaced the Conti RA on the back of my Mk1 600 for a BT021,on the front is a new-ish BT023 and the bike was fine with the worn Conti/new BT023 combination. No issues at all with handling.

FZS600 Fazer / 98 FZS rear caliper« on: 21 November 2012, 04:44:32 pm »
I have mullered the bleed nipple on my bike ('they all do that'I hear you shout!). Bloody thing has snapped off, tried the usual Eazi-Out method of removing it but it's having none of it. I am reluctant to attempt to drill it out as from experience I know I'm useless at this stuff. So before I remove it to a Machine Shop for removal I wondered if there is a replacement caliper that will bolt on?

Yeah I have one that's been kicking around my shed since 07, came from my W Reg S. It has a small black patch on it (circular 25mm) from where I laid the bike down in the back garden . Apart from that it's excellent.

Thanks for the feedback lads. I will bite on the bullet then and get the multitester out. Thought it was best to check if there was a known fault on these models that may have saved a lot of hassle troubleshooting

The fuel gauge on my Fazer 600 shows full all the time! Is this a known fault on this bike? If so what is the cure?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Split inlet rubbers« on: 31 December 2011, 08:08:47 pm »
Thanks for the replies guys. The splits really are very thin, you could call them hair-line really. I am now re-assured and will ignore them until I can coerce the missus into buying me a set

FZS600 Fazer / Split inlet rubbers« on: 31 December 2011, 06:01:26 pm »
On my 98 FZS600 the inlet rubbers are showing hairline splits. It's not effecting the performance at all (no indication of running weak) so I think they do not go all the way through....yet!
New ones on Ebay are £75 a set A friend suggested trying vulcanising rubber solution, the type you get in a push-bike puncture repair kit. Which I am tempted to try, only thing that worries me is the heat that close to the engine. What do you lot think? 43
General / Re: not lookin forward to this« on: 22 November 2011, 05:52:56 pm »Hope the heated grips are working! Don't be a hero, it gets too cold/wet pull over and take a break. Take spare (dry) gloves. 44

FZS600 Fazer / Tyres for a 98 Fazer 600« on: 03 November 2011, 06:23:00 pm »
Just bought a 98 Fazer 600 and it will shortly need tyres. What should I go for? Last time I had one of these bikes I remember fitting Bridgestone. Are they still the tyre of choice?

For Sale & Wanted / Re: 99 FZS600 for sale« on: 02 November 2011, 04:09:19 pm »
Yes it is tough out there for a seller. I've just (Monday 31 Oct) bought a Fazer 6 1998 with 34k miles and decent nick for £900, and with it I got a load of extras & spares.
Result for me, but hard if you're selling.
