Good thing I dont worry about "street cred" as I drive a Fiat Panda-basically the thinking mans version of the 500c and about £3K cheaper!
Cheap to insure-even in city, £30 road tax, 60mpg on motorway with good headroom-so good in fact that Fiat had to spoil it by bringing out a new version thats larger & a lot dearer. The money I save on running this pays for my fun-time on the Fazer.
Interesting theme though as I often wonder what motivates people to buy certain cars-Image? Ego? Fear? Self-worth? There are definitely stereotypes.
Observation in Birmingham:-the number of Mums on the school run driving massive 4 x 4s when they cant see over the dash & have to have radar type reversing aids. I wonder how bike riders are perceived by motorists-when I rode my friends YBR 125 on L-plates I was amazed how I was treated with contempt as the cagers desperately tried to overtake me when I was "making progress" @ the speed limit for the roads I was using. Funny this doesnt happen when theyre looking @ a fat rear tyre & sports can!
-
Fiat Panda's are fine. They're good, honest cars and because they don't have fake plastic flowers on the dash, they aren't driven by bimbos!
-
Any modern 4*4's because they are all shit.
Only difference betwean a 4*4 and a turd is that a turd is hard to polish !
i don't like them !

4*4's need a sticker saying "Does my dick look big in this" when the answer is usually "no you just look a dick in it" (Unless of course you happen to tow big trailers or live up a glacier)
If not bike it's usually a tatty skoda fabia diesel, it's the Mrs's car. (can still do cambridge to holyhead in 3.5 hours, alledgedly...)

I used to love cars, and I dreamt of having nice fast car one day.
My mate (VFR Rider) said, if you wanna go fast, get a bike. Since having a bike, I really REALLY appreciate, good honest, practical cars, since I get all my thrills from riding.
Keep your fancy cars (that I am still faster than anyway), give me my practical Focus anyday!! (After the Fazer of course) :lol

Yup....ditto!
I used to always want the fastest car possible and I enjoy accelaration. As soon as I got a bike they became irrelevant and I actually enjoy just cruising in eco mode whilst driving now as I get my kicks from riding. I've driven a Ferrari F430 in anger on a track and although impressive, it's still not the same pull as my FZ1

I drive a 4x4 YES it has been off road (much to the kids amusment) wanted something big enough for me kids wife and the luggage room is great only a 2ltr CRTD so quite economical plenty of toys in the car and the last snow we had no problems (live in a village on a mountain so LOW priority on gritting) gave quite a few people lifts and towed a car or two out of the snow as well. Had one before same type sold it for a Focus total crap the boot went on fire after 5 weeks (brand new) Ford did not want to know shit in the snow had to buy chains to get in and out of the village sold that bought another 4x4 not posh but does the job great not bad on economy nice drive. So to all the 4x4 haters :finger I love mine

Z3 Vito - Any motor driven by James Bond becomes instantly cool even if its not, eg the renaukt 11 that can alegedly manage to function with no fuel tank.

Wifey has a Fiat Panda- done 45k miles in two years and hasnt missed a beat
Yesterday I was looking over a Mrec silk- how can that be a hairdressers car?
-
Dolau, drive the SLK and you will realise.
I used to like the Audi TT till I drove one and reaslised how hairdresser suited they are.
-
I also found out the roadtax for a silk was £500 a year :eek but I will have a test drive before I discard it- probably give me backache anyway :'(
UG- you cant just say Peugeot and get away with it! I am on my second 207 and had a 306 and found them reliable and economic (diesel) and peugeot diesels go on and on and on and ............

I don't hate 4x4's, and it sounds like you actually need one.
What I hate, are 4x4 drivers, who drive in central London, who don't need them, and drive without care or consideration for anyone else using their size to intimidate other road users.
-
Peugeot 206cc
Any car with additional cushions
-
Nowt wrong wivva SLK.
Mind you, given your dislike of convertibles, I bet you'l like one of them thar BMW C2(?) bikes wiv a roof :lol
-
Any cabriolet really, with the possible exception of a Bentley, but even that's borderline.
-
500 Abarth I'd have one tomorrow
-
Escort XR3i convertible especially the pink one with the white roof! (Showing my age a bit though....)
-
Any 'small' 4x4 (think BMW X1 - Toyota RAV4)
Small people carriers (zafira-cmax etc)
MR2 yeah I know it has great dynamics etc
ANY Fecking thing with a 'Powered by fairy dust' sticker on it...These vehicles should be immediately crushed
-
I see a Smart most mornings with a 'Powered by fairy dust' sticker on it.
Must be Super high octane fairy dust with octane booster added though,
cos the sad old mutton who drives it must weigh well over 20 stone :eek
Fook (F@ck) knows how she even gets into the poor thing, husband must own a giant shoe horn :lol
-
I disagree with the Z3. A mate has one, has plenty of room for 6'3 me. Also the Z3M is a serious bit of kit..
The car my Mrs has is girly.. Audi A2. she has got the more 'butch' one (if there is such a thing)
1.6 FSI
ok it may have a spoiler and 17 inch wheels as standard. but i still feel my testicles shrinking when i drive it lol.
