Ordered 300mm of 22mm 10swg alloy tubing. £5.50 for a set of old school Vincent flat bars  :D
Complete fabrication, I didn't make it up!

A ride to Bala lake and back for dinner at Cafe Tegid, via Ruthin, Cerrig, Frongoch. 88 miles, avoiding most of the holiday traffic.

Stripped the paint off the outer rim of my front wheel, very time consuming as it appears the previous owner painted it with black smoothrite sometime in the past (went like chewing gum when paint stripper was applied.
Also attacked my outer casings with 120 grit wet and dry/stripper combination. My god, what have they used for a coating, recon if they'd used that stuff on the space shuttle they would have never crashed.

Complete fabrication, I didn't make it up!

Rung mechanic earlier enquiring when he could fit the bike in for an MOT and he said 9am tomorrow, so rushed home and gave the bike a good scrub up, plus cleaned and relubed the chain seeing as we're expecting a lot of rain.
I can't think of any reason at all why it should fail, i even popped a baffle in the exhaust for the day.  :lol

Giving the bike a spruce up was just me being nice, I've had ONE mot fail in 28 years riding, and that was only 'cos I was young and being mugged off, I took it somewhere else and they passed it!  :)

So I went there this morning, he said to give him 45 minutes so I had a full breakfast in the cafe a few doors up, then went back bang on time and he said there was a glitch at "their end" on the computer so he'd done foc all, then asked if I'd like to wait?
Erm, no, I have a very busy schedule so had to go to work. Phoned him later and he didn't answer.
Not too impressed to be honest, although the breakfast made a pleasant change.  :b

Gotta be done this week, it runs out on bank holiday Monday!

Managed to avoid the deluge both going and coming back from MOT, service and new front BT-023 today.
Bike running so much sweeter at idle now :).

Last week I went for my annual surfing and biking holiday in North Devon. The weather was great on the Monday for the ride down, but after that it was miserable for most of the rest of the week :(

Fortunately it cleared up on the Friday afternoon so I got to go up the A39 from Barnstaple to Minehead and then back across Exmoor which is a lovely ride and some beautiful scenery.

Coming back on the Monday, because the weather was crap again, I decided to skip the twisty roads and use the A303.

Big mistake! Traffic was jammed up for miles (I passed at least two accidents), idiots who wouldn't move over to let me filter past on solid white lines, one pillock who deliberately moved over to block me from filtering (leaving a nice gap on the nearside which I took and then gave him a big wave as I left him there :D )...

Eventually, when I got to near Salisbury, I cut off down the A361 which had a lot less traffic on, but all in all, it wasn't much fun :(

My daughter also took her car for MOT yesterday and the mot database system is down and canot be added. The old system has come to the end of its contract and the new one is as always with tec "not fecking working"
She was given a department of transport printed document saying that the car has passed its mot but has not been entered into the database and as such she should carry this document as proof of MOT untill it can be entered into the system proper and a proper mot certificate will be posted out once entered.

If I had a quid for every time someone asked me that, it would pay for the rental cost for the week...  :rolleyes
