Fitted "Oxford Sport" heated grips, then installed a USB port/charger, then connected an Optimate lead.

Rode the rest of the way to Hamburg.

Nearly 7 hours of Dutch and German back roads, in the RAIN  :'(

Arduous riding, so you were half right Midden.

Distance was OK to be honest ChristoT. But I have this silly inflatable seat cover thingy which mostly kept the piles away. (Not an Airhawk, older!)

Let my not expire....deliberately... When I got the fazer it was due in January and have gradually moved in into the more rideable months.

Surely it's better is the less rideable months so you don't lose out on quality ride time if it gets laid up waiting for any work needed?

Never really thought of it that way...I prefer to commit to a ride when no salt on the road to get it tested and if anything is needed (which it hasn't yet) then the weather is better to do it.
I do the same with cars.

Not what I have done today but what I received to fit tomorrow, I ordered a set of Fazer 400 headlights which have double dip and high beam fitment.
I got them for very reasonable price delivered from Rep Ireland from a very helpful chap called Tommy. I will let you know how I get on.
ps I think he may have a couple more but not sure. ;)

Sets the top box off a treat dont ya think...  Might fit the grab handles now I won't be carrying a change of clothes/wet suit :)

Got pulled over by a couple of coppers at the end of my road on the way into work, who informed me my tail lights weren't working. Nice enough blokes, rather than do me they escorted me home instead. Turns out my sidelights are out too so I'll have a look when I get home tonight. Probably a fuse or something simple like that.  :\

Whipped off bellypan and downpipes for a spuce up.  Sanded em back a tad ready for a coat of black hi temp paint tomorrow.  Also wanted to replace the downpipe header studs but they're not.budging so rather than accidently snapping one off,I'm leaving them. Just new gaskets n nuts.  Also cleaning the crud off the front of the engine and repaint with Granville engine paint with a brush.
Finish it tomorrow bright n early as I've got the day off.

This week I've been mostly tinkering in the garage

Check your ignition barrel, chances are you've sheared a wire at the barrel. I had that very same fault, and another bloke on here recently had the same issue. Easy to bypass if you don't mind losing your parking lights.  ;)

Cheers for the advice! I stripped the light switch yesterday and gave it a clean. It seemed to work but this morning I noticed a bit of a flicker when I turned them on, so I'll have a look at the barrel tonight.  :)

Serviced the beast. (it was a little overdue):-[
Whoever put the last oil filter on needs slapping as it was tighter than a nuns chuff! Filter wrench kept slipping round it, ended up hammering a screwdriver through it and levering the bugger off!
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

Are you actually saying that you got the nuts off without snapping the studs, because I got the inpression no one gets them off without snapping at least 1, how did you do that

Yeah nuts came off with 2 Mins of Wd40 soak and engine startup to warm em up a bit.  Came off no problem. I must be the lucky one.  Not going to attempt to remove the studs though. Even though I have a new shiny set on the shelf.

Quite right-no point making pain & aggravation for yourself! Bit of copper grease on threads before replacing nuts-better still fit domed  stainless nuts to keep the crap out!

I've had a taste of both worlds when it comes to the headers...

On my first 600 they all came off with ease without a hint of any issues. They looked pretty bad but were fine and this was at circa 23k miles

My second 600... well... every single one snapped, 2 of which flush with the head. But this was an 82k mile machine :\

I have got the nuts off 2 years running now without breaking them, same method a week of soaking with wd40.

Replaced the alarm that had a knackered motion sensor only to find that the replacement I'd bought from eBay had the wrong remote fobs, so I couldn't arm and disarm it!

Had to put the old one back in and get in touch with the guy I bought the replacement off to see if he's got the right fobs lying around :(
