Pulled away from home this morning and felt a rather worrying knock in 1st. Stopped, pulled away again, felt it again. Fine in all the other gears though. Time to book it in at my local dealer.  :\

NOGGY!!

That sounds like a proper nightmare! Really sorry you went through all of that!

You really should have dropped me a line, because (and this may shock you) I did pretty much all that you have so far! I had all the same mallet bashing, lots of head scratching, a bit of paint chipping (the bars were still bare, so only off of the bikes frame :rolleyes ) and some serious wondering as to WHY Renntec made a foot, then put in spacers to stand the bars off from the frame. It made NO sense to me either!! :rollin

But the bars simply don't fit without the spacers. I think you've hit the nail on the head with 'afterthought'. Not as bad as the 8 foot long bolts on crash bobbins though I suppose!

I hope you're happy with them now. I swear that after that palaver, mine are NEVER coming off! :lol

Thanks Andy....it was character building.

normally i would have just contacted you but the red mist took hold of me, i think i'll pm you regards where the other spacers go just to be safe..im quetly confident ill get them on next attempt, i just hope i havent bent that bottom foot as like i say i had used brute force and had it pretty much done up, there was only about half a cm space :eek .

Swapped the grab rails for the renntec rack , as I will have to use it for work for the next few days .took it for a blast down to W-S-M today . It certainly seems to rev easier with the new air filter .

Went for a nice bimble on the boxeye to Matlock Bath and back through Ashbourne and towards Uttoxeter. Jumped on the A50 and headed back into Leicestershire. Just over 100 miles all in.

Consider the winter cobwebs well and truly blown out  :)
Yamaha Fazer 'the only bike you'll ever need' maybe ???

Hope that doesn't turn out to be serious/expensive! Good luck, fingers crossed.

Abandoned the idea of a Wales ride today after forecast changed to rain for the afternoon, and had a bimble around the Cotswolds instead. Didn't really enjoy it, too much slow traffic on all the best bits, and well, all just a bit pants really.

I know what you mean... all the good roads seem to carry far too much traffic for them to actually be good  :'(

Used the thou to get to work, first time this year...5 mile run across town, the 600 is much better on this run than the thou, but with no baffle the thou sounds better  ;)     back in the cage tomorrow  :\

Insured it and then took it to pieces to clean, I haven't really thought this through have I:( I think its covered in acf50 and general road grime stuck in the oil. I'm thinking soapy water a good rinse and then maybe if there's time take it for a spin to dry it off. Orrrr is there a better way?

Started it.  Which thankfully after a bleak few months was successful.  Bought some new oil, a filter and some rear brake pads.  As the days are getting longer i can smell the hope of starting to use it again.

Only passed test last year but passed late August so i missed most of Spring & Summer  :'(

Cheers for the advice, checked it when I got home and it's fine. Looks like it has been replaced for the 12mm thick (did I read somewhere that they were originally 9?) version.

Turned out to be chain damage, so it's getting a new chain & sprocket today.

Got it back with a new chain and sprocket this afternoon, only to be told I have a rust hole in my nice rustproof stainless exhaust. That's another £200 I'll have to work a weekend for.  :\

Nobody told me biking was gonna be this fucking expensive!  :'(

Took the Thou for a spin after finishing changing the original rear shock for a 2012/13 model s1000rr rear shock. What difference, no more wallowing through the high speed bends.  :)
It raised the rear by 10mm and with the forks up through the yolks by 10mm. Turns in nice and quick, more like the 600 :)

The price of the later 2012/13 ones are rising as people are realising how good they are. :'(
It cost me £100 including postage and tax from the good old USA, I could not get 2012/13 ones on Ebay UK. Foccing postage and tax was the same price as the shock. :eek The cover on the shaft is a great idea.

Took my silly handguards off,

cleaned off all the crap,

sorted out the leaking Tutoro chain oiler,

fixed the wobbling mirrors,

changed the oil filter to a K&N with 'wrench nut' (very handy!)

And went for a spin in the sun!

Feels like spring is on the way!
