Introduction / Back in the (comfy) saddle
« on: 21 January 2018, 11:08:01 pm »
Had a gen 1 painted up in Kenny Roberts yellow and black up until last Feb.  Was nudging 50k, and I'd had it for over three years and fancied a bit of a change.

Swapped it for a Duke 390. If you've never ridden one, give it a go.  Absolutely hilarious on the road, and the best town bike ever invented.  Pretty too....

...but no good for distance, and a bit lacking in oomph for uphill stretches carrying 17 stone.

So, am back in the Fazer groove.  Found an Ivanised but otherwise stock 02 blue FZS1000 with 14k on the clock.  Picked her up yesterday from 15 miles away in a sleet storm and near freezing temperatures.

But my god it felt good.  Like coming home.

General / Possibly the Coolest Biker Ever......

This guy is a legend.  73 years old!

Speaking from a hospital bed, he told the BBC: "The bridge was coming down, almost like in slow motion, because it's eating its way through the lorry.
"But then it tore away from the other side. As that came down, it was a matter of throw the bike on the floor and go for it."I've a few broken ribs, but they mend."He added: “I moved to the outside lane. There was only one place to go. I threw the bike on the floor and went under.”His Yamaha MT-07 was left trapped under the bridge, which came down on the London-bound carriageway between junctions three and four, near Maidstone, Kent, shortly after noon on Saturday.

“My first thought when I came to rest was, ‘Oh well, there goes my bike’. It was a great bike.”

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Seats and rubbers.........
« on: 21 August 2016, 02:12:32 pm »
After many hours of perving at newer and flasher bikes, I still can't find anything to replace my Gen 1.  (138 rwhp, Kenny Roberts paint, maxton suspension).

But she's looking a bit tired in parts.
Namely, saddle, footrest rubbers, grips, and the braided steel brake lines have got surface rust.  Oh, and the Akrapovic's carbon fibre is looking tatty.

Any bright ideas for seat refurb/replacement and new exhaust can?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Ivanised?
« on: 08 September 2014, 09:10:31 pm »
How can I tell if my Gen 1's been Ivanised in the past?

I've got a dyno chart showing 137 at the wheel, and a very smooth power curve, so am suspecting it has, but wonder if there's any physical way of telling?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Love me and tell me I'm pretty!!
« on: 24 August 2014, 09:55:55 am »
Just wanted to show off my new (ripped off from a bike I saw) paint scheme, but there's no gallery on the new site!

2001 Gen 1, 44k, Maxton both ends, Ivanised, Akra'd, Dyno'd at 137 back wheel bhp.

This could be the bike I finally keep forever (despite owning 76 before it.......)

Will post some pics when I work out how the hell to do so on here...
