It is very rare for real card details to be obtained any way other than you handing them over.
Doesn't explain why CC leaks keep happening, another example -

General / Wemoto have suffered a data breach
« on: 16 December 2021, 07:33:43 am »
"Dear Customer,

At Worlds End Motorcycles Ltd, we respect the privacy of your personal data, which is why we are writing to let you know about a data security incident that potentially involves some of your personal data. This does not include any card or payment information as we never store these details.

On Dec 10th, 2021, we were made aware of a potential breach of the data that we hold with our service provider. The data accessed may have included the following types of personal information:

- Email address, first and last name

We deeply regret that this incident occurred. We are fully investigating the issue with our Service Provider to ensure that no such breach can occur in the future.

We have implemented additional security measures designed to prevent future attacks and to protect your personal information and the privacy of our customers. You do not need to take any action following this email.

Sincerely
The Worlds End Group"

This is exactly why I DO NOT let businesses keep my card details, but for good measure I have removed my postal address from the account and reset my password.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Cam Chain Replacement
« on: 14 December 2021, 09:57:28 pm »
I took out the tensioner completely and bumped it along a click but when putting it back in there was clearance between the tensioner and the engine block. I didn’t want to force it and I figured that the cam chain wasn’t ready for the next click.
Gnasher will correct me if wrong, but you should only adjust the tensionor when its installed in the engine. Check with Gnasher when, your supposed to set the tension (hot or cold engine).

@Gnasher, is it possible the noise is then a poorly adjusted tappet..?

I reckon that it may be fixed by opening it and cleaning the surplus oil that may be at the bottom of the filter,
Cleaning a semi enclosed oil filter that is not designed for it is a non sequitur, that and cleaning will have zero effect on a physical defects.

The thread is about oil filters failing fatally, not leaking. I have no idea what context your coming from with regard to your oscillating revs, did you mean to post that here..?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Limescale on barrels water pipes
« on: 11 December 2021, 11:30:50 pm »
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but its more than likely road salt and/or other road grime that has dried on the front of the hot engine. That said if the privious owner has used tap water instead of coolant or distilled water than I guess its potentially possible.

General / Html and formating issue in posts: Request for more infomation
« on: 25 November 2021, 02:35:09 pm »
Afternoon

Bob and I are looking into this issue that as it stands, a few people are have the issue where -
  • html will get placing into a thread post
  • Or the fonts will be super tiny or have unexspected formatting.
So in order to help us investigate the issue, it would be helpful if we can start by having the following info -
  • Who is having the issue?
  • What OS and browser are they using?
  • What browser plugins/addons to they have installed?
Once we have some users and test cases we can try and replicate the issue. Bob and I currently have multiple different browsers installed so we can test a few permutations.

many thanks

General / Re: FAQ: ULEZ charge and how it effects you!
« on: 16 November 2021, 10:48:18 am »
Sorry to sound cross but I keep this machine tip top and there's no way I can afford a new Euro 3 anything. Makes me spit when I see heavily polluting vehicles cluttering up the road which are clearly  not "compliant" in the real world on anything other than paper..
All the info you need is in this very thread fella, in your instance just contact Yamaha UK and get a CoC. Then once you have that, create a dummy account on TFL's website and upload a copy of your CoC and the front page of your logbook. When I did this for my FZ1, the bike was listed as ulez compliant after 24hrs.

« on: 09 November 2021, 10:03:57 am »
I got mine from Venhill, negotiated a deal at their stand at Stafford Bike Show, paid cash, £260. Amazing difference in effort reqd to use the clutch, no trouble at all to install, perfectly reliable.
Links please.

Also what is better about the Venhill kit that its worth £85 more than the Magura kit ?

It will sit under a cover for most of it, I will have to deal with dead batteries and the spectre of E10.

Yep, not a fan of theses SM's either. That said I try and avoid MW's where I can A) because its boring and B) so I don't wear out the center of my tyres.
