Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: Stainless EXUP Cover Bolts
« on: 26 November 2011, 07:06:57 pm »
every time  I need new nuts, bolts or washers I replace them with stainless items that I get from a local shop that does engineering supplies.
If you look in your local yellow pages you might find a similiar place. Their prices seem to be very cheap and when I`ve not been totally sure which thread or tpi I need I have just took the bolt/nut that I`m replacing with me and they have matched it.

I was asked to take my helmet off at a local esso garage last year, so I did, revealing a full balaclava.
The guy then served me with a big grin! He told me that they are told to make sure that motorcyclists and scooter riders remove their helmets but that balaclavas were never mentioned.
I usually fill up at a small independent garage when I`m near home because they don`t bother what you have got on, they want you to buy petrol off them.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: clutch lever
« on: 25 October 2011, 02:44:45 pm »
The zx9 clutch lever and perch arrived this morning ,Tuesday, quicker than I expected so as I was not on shift today I decided to fit it.
30 mins later all fitted and working and that included having to remove the handlebar grip on the clutch side to remove the original fazer perch. The connector on the fazer is two pin and the zx9 three pin but it was just plug and play.
Sidestand down, put in gear and fazer stalls as it should.
No more stretch to the clutch lever now and looks very neat and was a very cheap mod.
Thanks again for the info.

If you go to the home page there is a list of who is online on the left hand side when you scroll down a bit.

I`ve just got a zx9 lever and `perch` for £8 inc p&p off ebay so I will try to fit this weekend and see if it is just plug and play.
Thanks for all the info people :)

The ZX9 lever needs the perch as well.

When you say perch do you mean the handlebar mount?

I have always found the reach to the clutch lever on my gen 1 a bit of a stretch. Has anyone fitted one from another bike that is span adjustable?
I know that I can buy a cheap set off ebay from china but I am reluctant to do that as I want the levers to look original and I have always found that oem levers seem to be more comfortable.

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: New Brake Discs - is fitting an arse?
« on: 19 October 2011, 11:21:51 am »
I haven`t changed the discs on my fazer but I did on my zrx1100. The bolts usually have some type of threadlock on from the factory and I found the best way to undo them was to heat the bolts up with a paint stripper and and while a mate sat on the bike and held the front brake on I just slackened off the bolts a bit. Then when I removed the wheel from the bike all the bolts came off ok.
I put a piece off sheet metal I had lying around between the tyre and the disc to protect it from the heat.
I wasn`t bothered about the heat maybe warping the discs as they were going in the bin but if you wanted to re-use the discs this method might not be ideal.
Also I put threadlock on the bolts when I put the new discs on.

Found the wbsite for TCP,http://www.tcpsa.com/
489 euros for the fairing plus shipping.
Has anyone bought anything off them in vivid red cocktail, if so what was the colour match like?

Apologies for seeming to hijack this post

Are the holes for the crash protectors already in the fairing?
Does anyone have a link to a website for the fairing lowers?

The handguards look like the Acerbis dual road ones, I have been unsuccessfully trying to get some used ones of ebay for the last couple of weeks but they go for not much cheaper than a brand new set ,have a look at these,http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300593719023?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649.

I will probably end up getting some new ones as per the link above but I do know they will foul the mirrors on full lock as I fitted/ tried some that a mate has fitted to his ZRX1100, but I can put up with that.
I have been told that I will have to remove them when it is MOT time as if they foul on full lock it is a fail point, can anyone confirm this?

If you get Halfords to do it for you and you use the paint and get a good match you`ll be very lucky.I ended up spraying my bellypan black as the only way to get a good match is to buy the base paint and top coat together from a good supplier such as RS Bikepaint and that will cost you nearly £60 for a few spraycans. They also do a touchup for stone chips and stuff.
Maybe I should have bought a black fazer and not a red one!

Ive always had problems fitting one in my right ear

I have the same problem with my right ear, never seems to be as easy as my left hand ear, don`t know if being left handed makes a difference.
Does anybody else have this problem?

I always use them but we are supplied with them where I work because of the noise levels so in effect they are free.I cannot ride without them in, everything seems too noisy otherwise.

« on: 02 October 2011, 02:48:17 pm »
The same happened to my sons x box. He semed to know about this problem and called it the "red ring of death", as it means your xbox is dead. If you search the web you should find loads of info on this problem. At first people said they cannot be fixed but apparently they can be.
My son part exchanged his non working xbox for a repaired one and the independent local shop which did it said they would repair his old box and sell it on.
I also seem to remember a consumer programme on tv reporting the same thing with playstations and sony saying they could not be repaired but independent repairers then repaired them.
