General / Edinburgh hotels?
« on: 16 August 2016, 10:49:39 am »
Thinking of taking a weekend break in Edinburgh.
Looking for a hotel close to the railway station and suitably placed for all the tourist spots.
Don't want a budget hotel, a nice one at a reasonable price.

Any recommendations chaps ?

General / Digital music through my Hifi
« on: 21 June 2016, 09:28:34 am »
OK, time to turn to the foccers font of knowledge!

I have Hifi separates, these days mainly using either a DAB tuner or digitally stored music on an old ipod nano connected to the amp.

The nano is so small and fiddly to use, the wife cant use it and even I take a while trying to find what I want to play.

I'm thinking along the lines of maybe an android tablet wired to the amp, with a really straightforward music playing app that looks something like a pub jukebox does nowdays? Is there such a thing or some other solution that I know nothing about?

Been reading up on NAS (not really understanding) but dont want a storage centre for ALL my music but that would still need a display/play control option I believe.

Dont think I want to stream off the internet, just want to play my own music easily!

My music is stored on my macbook and I load different stuff on to various devices like phone, car, van etc.

What I first thought of was a separate that has a hard drive and good size colour display but that doesn't seem to exist.

I know audiophiles will be choking on their tea reading this, but the sound quality (using a nano) is acceptable for my needs.

So which direction should I be heading?

Need recommendations for HSS drill bits, just regular sizes ie. 2 - 12mm

Used Rawlplug for many years but they've obviously changed something as they blunt and snap real easily nowdays.

So what brands are good?

Its time to change the laptop at home. You know how they eventually get, sssslllooowww and full of crap, so its got to go before I throw it through the window in a fit of rage :)

Always used windows (currently Win7 ) but not adverse to change.

Only used for home stuff, ie. web surfing, storing pics music and a few home movies. Occasionally a little bit of simple movie editing and plotting routes on Garmin Basecamp. The occasional CD rip as well (but becoming less and less). Got to work with iTunes.

Looking for something fast to boot up with a good battery life and 15" screen.

Should I bite the price tag bullet and look at apple stuff ?   - Reason being is I resisted iphone for years but once I got one it was better than sliced bread :lol

Any suggestions gratefully received!

OK, I'm not politically minded and haven't been following the great debate.

But, as I live in England, how does it effect me if Scotland leaves?
Should I give a monkeys either way?

Taken from a motorcycle solicitors web blog             Wonder what bike it is?

IMPORTANT – If you receive a recall notice for your motorcycle please read this!

We have become aware of one of the largest motorcycle manufacturers making a recent recall notice for its well-known sports bike. Whilst it is quite usual to see such recall notices’ we have received calls from motorcyclists who say they have been injured as a result of work being carried out incorrectly.

This particular recall notice is made in relation to the brakes. However, as is common, a lot of sports bikes have an aftermarket part fitted and therein lays the problem. It appears from the multiple calls we have received that dealers have been fixing a known fault but without noting that aftermarket parts had been fitted. The result is that the motorbike brakes either stick, drag or lock on causing accidents.

At this stage we are unable to publish the manufacturer or precise motorcycle affected as it will shortly be the subject of litigation.

If you have any queries or you think you may have been affected please do not hesitate to contact us

Anyone used any Hotels in the Black forest region of Germany?

Heading for somewhere in Europe on Thursday for 4/5 days depending on weather. Looks good there and we got rained off last year so may head back.

Ideally would like a hotel in a town with some life après ride :) and not a ghost town!

Why is it we get attached to our pets so much.
Had to have my ancient collie put to sleep this morning and almost cried like a baby!
Once the vet started to shave her leg ready for the needle she decided she was going to take him with her :lol  , had to muzzle her - bless her heart  - she's at peace now  :(

I've blocked my debit card by entering the wrong pin 3 times (I'm sure It was right but time will tell.)

How do I unblock it, I'm thinking a cash machine will do it but does it have to be the banks own machine?
