As Simon Hayes is Chairman of Crimestoppers Hampshire & the Isle of Wight, and past Chairman of Hampshire Police Authority, I'm glad he has been elected in Hampshire. He is independent and has had good experience for the job. Unlike some mentioned.

I totally agree with Spoonlamp. In Hampshire we were able to go on line and see who we were voting for. My 1st. choice got in. Don't agree with PCC's but as we have them anyway I didn't want to waste my vote.

Welcome Steve. I used to live in Larmer Close near you about 15 years ago. Down the south end of the county now with a FZ6 at the moment.

Best wishes,

David.  :)

Hi Tony - welcome. I'm 65 and got my FZ6 10 weeks ago after a break of 20 years due to lack of funds. Lovely bikes. I'v already dropped mine once too doing a low speed u turn in a dead end road. Hardly any damage though. First two tank fulls I got 40 mpg but on the 3rd. today it's up to 71 mpg now I'm getting used to it.

Safe riding and very best wishes.     :)

You have to walk round golf courses - a bike is much more fun!  :)

Maybe I'm just going deaf with old age!  :)  Will have to try them, but not yet convinced.

Never used ear plugs on a bike. Are they safe? Always thought it was important to use your ears as well as eyes when riding.

Got some of these - they are good but the black bits of wool come off on your feet and leave a trail all over the carpet! Okay if you are single, but beware if you are married!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

... still, with 30 million people on the roads, you're bound to have accidents, so why bother trying to reduce that number...??

(Hope I've got this quote right - still learning!)

It must make some difference & if I'm one of the ones not in an accident because someone has had extra training I'm all for it!

I have thought for a long time that retesting at regular intervals would be a good idea. It would at least make people (self included!) read the highway code a bit more often.

How about if the test is failed the cost of insurance goes up say 25% until it is passed again? Likewise, if passed drop the cost of insurance by 25%?

Also how about a real incentive to do further advanced training by bigger insurance cuts, not the few % as at the moment?

Hi Colin - welcome. Bike looks nice in spite of what you say. Reliability is the main thing and yours sounds good. Hope all the things you want to do don't set you back too much.

Hope your retirement plans go according to plan. In my experience you are almost as busy after retirement as before. Would be great to have more time for the bike.

Very best wishes & safe driving.

Welcome Richard. Hope your wife comes round. I'm back after a 20 year break - my wife thought I had been in mourning long enough and encouraged me to get two wheels again. Guess I'm very fortunate.  :)  She won't come on the back though.

Have fun & stay safe,

David.

Hi Devid

Your English is much better than my Italian! (Non existent).

Like the photos. Had my FZ6 for almost 2 months and have been wondering how to carry stuff. Bought a rucksack for now. I like the panniers and tank bag especially - they look good.

I come from just outside the east end of London but left there many years ago. Now in Hampshire. Hope you are enjoying your stay.

Safe riding mate.

Started in my early teens on my Dad's old James ( Villiers 9D engine with hand gear change) riding in our garden - not very big, but an end house with a side garden so learnt clutch control at least.

Got an Ariel Leader when I was 17 and passed my test. Then on to a BSA A10 with sports sidecar. Lovely bike. Various bikes after that including a 650 Panther with sidecar, Francis Barnett 197 for messing about on, an M.Z,. CX500 and my present bike - FZ6 S2.

Also had 4 Reliants in my time. (Do I get a medal for bravery for admitting it?) Made passing my car test easy later on.

Good idea - I've just signed.

I like the idea of making someone get experience on a motorbike first before taking the test in a car. Would improve road sense and make them more aware of bike riders. If they insisted on doing stupid things they would probably injure less people as well, if not just themselves.

Hi Ian. Used to have relations at Brayton back in the 60's when in my teens. Went up there from London (usually overnight) on my Ariel Leader which I passed my test on. Also on my next bike, a BSA A10 with sports sidecar. Really enjoyed that one. Also on an old Francis Barnett (197 Villiers engine)  which made it without any trouble - very reliable.

Just got my 2008 FZ6 S2 about 6 weeks ago and love it.

Best wishes to you both.
