Tank Off!!!
« on: 23 June 2013, 04:16:46 pm »
Hi Guys n Dolls, got my tank off for rre-spraying and wondered if theres owt to look for whilst its off. All seems fine and i've checked the air filter which is brand new by the looks of it. Whilst I'm on, the lower fork stantions are well pitted and look crap so what has people done to cure it apart from replacing em??

Thanks Buck

Look for thinning of the metal at the lowest point of the tank, they Rot through where the water sits on the inside, had one go this way myself.
Stop polishing it and ride the bloody thing!!

Used paint stripper on my forks, rubbed them down with wet 'n' dry after getting all the sludge off then sprayed them with silver wheel spray and finally lacquered them.
They looked like new afterwards.
