Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Re: S1000R test ride

Had a go on my mates r6 a while ago, at 6,2 I felt like I was on a mini moto!
I had a go on a mates Aprilia RSV4, felt like sitting on a bar stool and putting your hands on the floor, could only ride it for a mile....I have a 2002 RSVR and this feels like a Gold Wing in comparison.

I can't believe this has got as far as it has, we are not a big motorsports country, football rules here. We don't have enough big events , one or two big meetings a year is not profitable ...look at last weekends BSB, spot the spectator.
Another new circuit would be a huge white elephant and going bust soon after opening.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, "Can I get a coffee?"

NO YOU CAN'T FUCKING GET A COFFEE, YOU CAN HAVE ONE AND THE PERSON BEHIND THE COUNTER WILL GET IT FOR YOU!!!!!!  FUCKING FUCKTARDS!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH  :grumble :2guns

Don't get me started on coffee! Starbucks, I hate starbucks, I hate the way they ask you your name to write it on your cup, I hate their overpriced flapjacks, I hate their corporate log, I hate the fact that they're everywhere, I hate the tall, grande , venti sizes, its small, medium and large, when the fcuk did tall ever mean 'small'. I hate starbucks, tax dodging cnuts!
I remember when 9/11 happened there was a comment that NYC Firefighters had been refused water at Starbucks as they had rushed out without any cash....they've never had a penny from me ....while we're on the subject of moans I'm hoping that if we leave Europe we won't hear kilometres etc on the tv instead of miles and people who say" hommage and uber .....can't stand this euro talk crap...that's all.

General / Datatool System 21
« on: 03 August 2015, 05:18:30 pm »
I have a '04 Fazer 1000 fitted with the above mentioned system...on Saturday whilst out for a ride around the N/Yorks Moors with a mate I stopped in a lay by near RAF Fylingdales to fiddle with my ear plugs, I then attempted to restart the bike but the alarm / immobiliser would not come off,    go back 3yrs , out with same mate who was on a ZZR14 with the same alarm fitted, we went to Olivers Mount cafe which is next to several radio or phone masts and guess what ? his alarm wouldn't come off and the bike wouldn't start, a lady came out of the cafe and told him to push it down the road about 200yds and try it, worked a treat.....so back to present, we pushed mine into a valley out of line of sight of the big transmitter at Fylingdales and when I placed the fob next to the alarm it worked perfectly.
Just a bit of info if anyone has a similar problem...these systems are obviously affected by powerful radio masts.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Center Stand clean up...
« on: 16 May 2015, 07:54:28 am »
Mine was a mess also, took it to Romax in Stockton who powder coated it for £14, it looks better than new.
Greg
I might get mine powder coated -- but how much better is powder coating than smooth hamerite UNLESS you can send them your crabby old stand and THEY do all the cleaning too. Do they or do you have to clean it up (to a certain extent first ).
Do they do some sort of acid bath or shot blast first -- if so then sounds good
Took mine off the bike and wiped the grease off, thats all, took it down to Stockton and picked it up two days later.
Romax have a great reputation in the North East, do a superb job on car alloys too. A friend is restoring a KR1S and had Romax do the frame, it's better than new.

I've got a Jap '57 Strat, had it for nearly 20yrs and love it. Got "Texas Special " pickups and it's the best Strat I've ever played, these Jap made models are of superb quality, if you get one of these you won't be disappointed and they're like bikes, you can endlessly modify them.
P.S. someone mentioned Line 6 amps, I have one for sale on eBay, it sounds great on the overdrive settings with my Strat but the clean sounds are not to my liking, I also have an Epi. 335 and can't get a good sound at all with this guitar from the Line 6...hence it's for sale.

No it isn't, you haven't read what I said, you've done the usual PC brigade thing. I stand by what I've said..Jenny is a good club level rider but not quick enough for BSB,  at the end of the coming season we'll see Jennys results and if she makes the Showdown or even gets a podium I'll be the first to cheer but hand on heart I don't believe she will, there are few fairy tales in professional motorsport.

Good luck to Jenny but lets be realistic...she's not quick enough, she is a good club level rider but that doesn't cut it in BSB. I would love to see her do well but can't help thinking she will crash her brains out then be dropped at the end of the year.
The only woman to make the grade at this level in recent years is Cath Green in the 125s who won a round at Cadwell.
As much as I hate to say it I think Jenny got the ride because of her gender but it's Hondas money and they can do as they wish with it.

My job means that I visit hospitals in my local area (north east ), the staff I see are run off their feet, the amount of work doesn't lessen but the staff levels do.
I can't help but admire their dedication and professionalism while feeling sorry for them. I worked for the Prison Service for 28yrs and whats happening there parallels the NHS, they are both being butchered by Governments and fed on the bullshit that "all is well ".

Events, Meets, Ride outs etc / Re: Scarborough Gold Cup
« on: 15 January 2015, 04:36:06 pm »
I've been going since1972 and enjoyed many great races however...make sure you and family are dressed for a walk in the country, there are no spectator stands and it is very hilly.
Another problem is that the organisers will not advertise if a star rider pulls out, I have been disappointed a few times, Guy Martin  the most recent, he had told the organisers he was riding at the Goodwood event but they still advertised that he was riding.
It's expensive, with the Gold Cup being £30 last year, £20 for the other events and frankly the entry was poor at some of them.
If it's foggy (weather, not Carl ) and the meeting is delayed they'll still let you in but won't refund if the meeting is cancelled.
It can be very enjoyable but be aware you may be disappointed, especially if you've travelled a long way.
Greg
P.S. There's a few clips of the racing on YouTube

You're all missing the obvious...the Honda Blackbird, it's currently the bargain of the century, especially the early carb models. I sold mine this year.. 39,000 miles, c/w Maxton rear unit, new Bridgestones,VFR 800 h/bars ( more comfortable ) White Power front springs, £1600. It was in very good nick, full MOT and owned by me for 10yrs.
I advertised it on eBay for over three weeks with no interest until a guy came over from Sweden and rode it back.
Don't believe the bollocks about linked brakes being crap either, with EBC HH pads they were superb, especially two up.
The build quality is high as is reliability...downsides....the seat is uncomfortable, there's a big market in custom seats.
Don't give the 'bird a miss, you won't be disappointed....Oh! 172mph at Elvington Top Speed day. So why did I sell it ? Arthritis in my neck..I needed a more upright riding poition.

Back in the mid 90s we had a 205 diesel doing 25,000 per year, I fitted a set of Polish " Stommel " tyres as they were very cheap however they weren't great in the dry but in the wet they were plain dangerous, locking up on braking and sliding on corners. Since then I've used all sorts of tyres on my A4 & Golf with no issues and Stommel  seem to have vanished from the market, thank heavens.
