Hi Gray Fox, I've had the 'Full Monty' done to my '54 plate Genesis 1. I too have a road legal Beowulf tri oval can. Mike (falcon269 on these forums) is the recognised expert on the set up here and is highly recommended. He did mine last year and many others on here too. You don't need a race system, full or part. There is an airbox mod included, besides the carb alterations/settings and the intake rubbers are reprofiled. I didn't have the bike dynoed prior to the kit, but shortly after it gave just over 135bhp at the rear wheel (baffle in the pipe) and it's averageing 48mpg with a best of 55mpg. The economy is a bonus with this bike, but the kick out of corners is now something else. Go for it!

Can anyone point me in the direction of aftermarket radiator hoses for the Fazer FZS1000 - I recall seeing some blue coloured sets a while back but I'm buggered if I can find them now!

If you can get the ignition barrel off the top yoke, it MAY have the key number stamped at the base. I recall getting keys cut many many years ago that way, it may not be the same though nowadays. Phone a breaker first to ask if he'd have a check for you on a similar ignition barrell, save stripping your ignition barrel uneccessarily. Best of luck

There are so many who do the talk but don't / can't do the walk. Been there, done that and it can be soooo addictive. (or did I mean expensive? ) So good on you for getting out there and having a go, but ride within your own limitations mate, remember it is just a taster and if you ain't never been on track before, you won't be the first (nor the last) to go down quickly through trying too hard. It looks easy trackside and on the telly and you might think you can do better because you can ride fast on the road. DON'T get sucked in by others who may pass you by (and they will without doubt, because there is ALWAYS someone quicker than me/you) Enjoy your 20 minutes, it's a grin!

I've got a GL1800 Goldwing with a 4" taller than original screen - can't see over the top without standing up on pegs and I have a windscreen wiper for when it rains! - I still wear earplugs, 'cos it's a motorcycle and there's wind noise. ANY screen/fairing will cause noise/buffeting, it's just a question of what the rider's prepared to put up with. I won't be buying a taller screen for my Fazer 1000, but am looking for one of the smaller genuine Yamaha screens 'cos my upper torso (6'2" meself) will be outta the turbulance just as a naked. Sometimes less is best.

I would have someone else get it onto my bike
Not just any old 'someone else' - make sure you converse with Falcon 269 for when he's next available - there is NO ONE ELSE, there Can Be Only One!

Aha, I've sussed the photos now. When you use a pic from your own computa, it doesn't show when you're logged out of forum here, it's only visible if you've logged in. BUT....... if you copy the link from photobucket (after you've put your pic in there of course) it's visible to all and sundry even when NOT logged in.

1978 Reliant Robin 850 super, tipped it onto its side at20 MPH, 2 of my mates climbed out through the passengers window and flipped it back onto its wheels, took it home and filled the door pillar with P40 and was back on the road an hour later, got it free off an old uncle, ran it a year and sold it for £500.
Mine was a Regal saloon, early 70's and I made it outta 3 scrap Regals, one with a good engine, one with a solid chassis and the other with half decent bodywork, Jeez, my Mum hated me and Dad fixing that up, what a mess, but it got me going. Well, other peaople did actually 'cos it always needed pushing to get fired up Slept in it too overnight at Oulton Transatlantic Races with three mates, we we're a lot smaller then, but even so I ended up just lying underneath the drivers sill 'cos the glove compartment was already full of someone elses feet. Wot a grin, great car on two or three wheels and real fun in the snow, always had to make my own tracks.

Hi Scousy, just looked at my Haynes manual, if it can be trusted. Any 5W fork oil ..........or Yamaha's own is apparently called '01' according to Haynes 2001 - 2002 European models have 440cc per leg 2003 - on models have 435cc per leg The Fork oil level is 140mm measured from the top of the tube with the fork spring removed and the leg fully compressed. NB - Euro Model Codes 2001 is 5LV1 2002 is 5LV8 2003 is 5LVF so check yours first in case it's a 2002 registered on an 'o3 plate
