FZS600 Fazer / Re: Is my bike getting good MPG
« on: 11 January 2013, 12:09:58 pm »
Mcn reviews are utter pants, if its not a race rep that does 180 mph it's a crap bike, I remember years ago when suzuki changed the bandit from the first shape to the second and they were moaning about how uncomfortable it was, but the next review was an r1 and they were raving about how comfortable that was,  :eek nobs. I would of thought that most 600s should be 50 + mpg these days as long as your not ringing it's neck,

Maybe it's from a year before and didn't get sold, the number plate is when the bike was registered not built I believe, but someone with more knowledge about it may come along and tell you?

Fazer 1000/FZ1 corner / Screens
« on: 10 January 2013, 03:40:35 pm »
My uncle has a fazer1000 02, and he's having a knightmare with wind blast, he's changed the standard screen to a double bubble and not much better, what do you lot use? He doesn't want to go out and buy another screen and possibly wasting more money.

FZS600 Fazer / Spark plug caps????
« on: 09 January 2013, 11:10:23 pm »
Just been looking at the hot poop section and there's a bit about spark plug caps, sorry if this is a stupid question but wouldn't there be ht leads? And how would you change just the ends? Would you have to cut the cable? Sorry I can't check mine cos my bike is 20 miles away

I've had a hornet, bought new in 99. With the 16 inch front wheel, more flickable than the fazer, don't know what newer ones with 17 inch wheel are like, but also more twitchy, doesn't take much to get a dangerous weave going when your giving it some around the bends, could never figure out if it was the tiny alloy frame flexing or the suspension, a tiny bit quicker of the mark than a fazer, and I mean tiny, rubbish tank range, most I had was 95 miles, worst 52 miles, top speed about 130.

Now fazer, I've got the fox eye model, comfiest due to the fairing, more stable and harder to upset in bends, closer to 150 top end, and the brakes are much better than the hornet,

It depends what you want out of a bike, the fazer is more user friendly, better for distance, the hornet made me more of a hooligan, not that I need much encouragement  :evil and hornets don't crash very well :'(

« on: 07 January 2013, 07:02:02 pm »
Cheers guys hopefully get the bike down my house this weekend so can crack on with it, should I just change the regulator rectifier any way? Are they expensive? And are they 1 item or 2 separate components? Sorry if that sounds silly but I currently have no idea about them.

« on: 07 January 2013, 12:59:37 am »
It was doing this when my uncle had it from a year old, and it was going through a battery a year, never not used for more than a week, so standing not it , and it had a thrashing when out, what do I do with the multimeter? I have got one but have no idea how to use it yet alone what all the settings mean :\  , I also want to fit some spot lights so that was why I was thinking to upgrade the alternator and battery

My fazer has been standing for 2 1/2 years apart from new battery and oil and filter, should I just  chuck in some fresh petrol and hope for the best? Or any other tips?

FZS600 Fazer / Alternator upgrade?
« on: 07 January 2013, 12:17:29 am »
Is it possible to put a better alternator on as the standard one is not doing its job, battery is always on an optimate, but if on a run with lights on and heated grips, stop for fuel and it may not start again, it's done this with 2 new batts, if lights or grips are off its ok, was thinking of an odysey battery to go in instead of the usual ones, any ideas?

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Whats the reccomended oil / what oil do you use?
« on: 07 January 2013, 12:13:28 am »
My bro had an rgv250 for 3years and did way over the mileage expected for those fragile engines to do, he used it on track days and all year round, and never had to rebuild it, my point being that he used to use silkolene oil can't remember which one but it was the most expensive oil you could get, he was at the time some sort of  chemical engineer for the military, don't know any more cos its classified, but he knows about molecules and that kind of stuff, anyway he sold his bike to my neighbour, told him to use the silkolene oil, the reply was not paying that cheap stuff will do the same, 300 miles later and it was being rebuilt! After that said neighbour used silkolene  and did 13000 miles on that bike before some tow rag nicked it and it was going great, I know it's 2 stroke oil but I personally will always get the best that I can for car or bike.

Hi all, my name is Justin, and in the past I had an 02 fazer 1000, and I've just been given an 03 600, last of the carved models I believe , it from my uncle, who strangely enough has my old 1000, the 600 has been standing for 2 1/2 years, and there's a few issues with it before it went of road, nothing major, so lots of questions will be hitting this forum very soon. Oh yeah I live in port talbot, South Wales .
