Trialled a couple of things Facebook based when we switched over, still trying to decide which version to go for atm.

The dude that did the interactive widget for the forum was re-doing it, just waiting to see how it pans out.
There are a couple of foc-u based pages on there though.
We were in the middle of testing them with a wee group of volunteer(ed)s then FB changed the goalposts.
As they do.
Life then got in the way of playing with it some more, but hoping to get another crack at it going soon.

Cheers.
Aegis.

Why don't we just get a virtual sword and cut the forum down the middle. Not everyone uses facebook. The posts on the site, I feel, are suffering already through facebook.
Better to stand and look a fool than speak and prove it !

That was the other problem Russ as we know a few Foccers don't do Facebook.

The widget I'm playing with means new posts and comments posted here are published to FB and (hopefully) vice versa.
The dude that created the package has taken down his own website and is transferring to a new host, so need to sit tight on it just now.

I'm playing with it on my own site atm, got a few folks trying it out for me as is.
Once we know that it doesn't create more problems than it solves we'll think of installing it here.

I agree there are far fewer posts since FB took over the world, but there will always be the hardcore of us that post here.

We used to get 500 posts per day on ezboard, then when we were moved to Yuku it fell over the years to 50 per day, and now we've moved here we are getting 100 posts per day.

So yes FB will have taken some people away, but we also lost some through bad software and we are recovering from that.

We should remember that we are 'on the up' and not down :)

My twopenneth for what it is worth. I enjoy coming on the foc-u site for dedicated foc-u information and updates and think that these sort of updates and posts would get lost in a facebook page, just my opinion, badger.

Facebook pages are good for quick announcements and the odd funny link, but they're useless for anything that needs forum capabilities like the photo competition or any discussion that's more than a few posts long.

The Hampshire Bikers group has both, but the limitations of Facebook can be seen pretty quickly.
