NEW BIKE??
« on: 01 June 2012, 08:27:48 pm »
Alright dudes

My Fazer is old and I am quite possibly not the right home for the old girl, so I might be selling or part exing. . . . .  :'(
So which bike to get next??

There are a lot of 0% finance deals on and I am thinking that maybe, I might just treat myself, especially as I can't afford to put down the full amount right now.

Does anyone have any recommendations, advice or opinions??

Kawasaki Z 1000 zx its the only bike I have test rode and did everything a gen 1 can do and more, plus modern looks.

I was told that these are not actually that nice to live with . . . . .

I was thinking more like maybe a new CBR600F, a Fazer8 or maybe any decent 2nd hand bike on a finance deal . . .

Aprilia Tuono r V Twin 1000cc..

Stunning.

But a CBR600-F is a really good bike. If you like Hondas.

To be honest, I find Hondas to be a little bit souless, HOWEVER, after the spluttering, frustrating Fazer (videos being uploaded as we speak) I have heard that Hondas are pretty bulletproof, and reliable, which is what I am looking for in a bike. I also think the new CBR600F is a little more refined than the CBR600RR or the old CBR600F. Doesn't seem to be as chavvy . . . . . .

However, I kinda really want a Kawasaki ZZR600, only they don't bloomin make them no more!!

Take a test ride on a street triple...its a fantastic handling bike, and IMO can be made practical enuff for everyday riding.I would fit  a ventura luggage system for days away. The triple engine is similar power to the FZS600 but with maybe more torque. It is a cracking ride, and Triumph R doing cheap finance ( i think 0% ) on it too.

Depends heavily what you want from a bike (inc what you'll be doing with it), the money you've got to spend, and whether you plan to buy new (inc a big depreciation loss) or used.

CBR600F fi thing is brilliant. Loved mine but is a small bike for big fellas.
Bandit 1250 has soooooooooooo much torque. Let down only by the seat.
Gen 1 Fazer thou, of course. Cheap as chips, goes like feck. All day comfy.
Early R1. Loved mine, but neck problems led me to a "sensible" bike.

BMW F800R knocks the Triumph into a cocked hat, but not cheap.
FZ6 is a lot of bike for the money cos they're giveaway prices now.

Was not at all impressed with the Fazer 8. Bouncy piece of junk I reckon. All revs, no go. Seat you fall thorugh after 10 minutes.

Depends what you want from a bike really.

mate of mines just bought a 58 plate bandit 1250 GT , the model with full fairing and luggage as standard, i must say i'm really impressed with it, i'd of never considered one before.

Was tempted to get one but we ride a lot together and didn't want people to say them two are a "right pair of bandits" plus they don't have the high rev rush that the fazer 1000 has.

As mentioned, need to sort seating out for longer trips.

I have the 1250 bandit as a insurance hire bike, what a piece of junk. Instantly you get that low down tourqe buzz, but it soon fades as you see that is the only thing the bike has to offer. Hit 6k revs and there is no point in the bike as the tourqe hits a cliff and the bhp just seems breathless.
The 1200 was a better engine.
Seat is rubbish and its much more cramped than the gen 1 with my legs and hip hurting affter just 20 mins.
Nasty pile of metal, and I'm holding back on how I realy feel about it LOL

wow how odd. I thought it was a much better bike than the Fazer thou apart from the seat which was awful.

Really don't know what to recommend. Another, 2003 FZS600 perhaps?  :)
That bike is like Golf II is for cars, only sportier and less dull. If you have problems with a FZS600, you'll have plenty more from other bikes. I mean, it is among the easiest bikes to service and repair IMO. Especially those things that can be done on the roadside, while on a trip, like: changing sparkplugs, brake pads, wheels off, oil change etc.

I can't find another bike like Fazer. CBR600f doesn't come with a centerstand, does it? And it doesn't look as cool with an aftermarket one.

Luggage place beneath the seat is also practically unmatched. Don't know why they don't put a bit more room under seats on modern bikes. Not to mention centerstands. SportTOURER should have a centerstand FFS!

Suggestions? If I lived in England, Triumph Street Triple would be on my wishlist (impossible to find spares for anything but Japs in my country). It's a perfect engine.

Honda CBR600F. It's a HONDA - with all it's reliability and dullness. :)   In-line four, nobody makes those better than the Japanese!

CBR600F does indeed have a centre stand.

I've had four CBR600's and loved everyone of them (1 RR and 3 F's). Cracking all-round bike and the newest one has got to be the best to date. Light, fast, reliable and top quality finish from Honda. Dull?? How can ANY modern 600 be dull?? Only the rider can be dull.

Just book a test-ride and make your own mind up.

Did just that - but work came out. Will have to borrow one from a friend some time.  :)
All the Hondas are a bit for pensioners compared to Yamahas.  Maybe it's just me.

I test rode  a street triple R a week ago and I reckon it has the best handling / ride combo of any bike I have ridden.Have not ridden the F800R but it has to be very very good to trounce the street. Its probably a grand more expensive too.
I was thinking that by now you would be able to pick up a decent second hand bike for a good price now as they have been out a few years now.

Just looked it up....BMW F800R has max bhp of 87......street triple is 108.....BIG deficcit to start with.

If you compare to standard street triple the BMW price is basic £7150....street triple 6800 with £300 free accessories included.
