« on: 01 June 2012, 10:45:51 pm »

But a CBR600-F is a really good bike. If you like Hondas.

To be honest, I find Hondas to be a little bit souless, HOWEVER, after the spluttering, frustrating Fazer (videos being uploaded as we speak) I have heard that Hondas are pretty bulletproof, and reliable, which is what I am looking for in a bike. I also think the new CBR600F is a little more refined than the CBR600RR or the old CBR600F. Doesn't seem to be as chavvy . . . . . .

However, I kinda really want a Kawasaki ZZR600, only they don't bloomin make them no more!!

Kawasaki Z 1000 zx its the only bike I have test rode and did everything a gen 1 can do and more, plus modern looks.

I was told that these are not actually that nice to live with . . . . .

I was thinking more like maybe a new CBR600F, a Fazer8 or maybe any decent 2nd hand bike on a finance deal . . .

General / NEW BIKE??
« on: 01 June 2012, 08:27:48 pm »
Alright dudes

My Fazer is old and I am quite possibly not the right home for the old girl, so I might be selling or part exing. . . . .  :'(
So which bike to get next??

There are a lot of 0% finance deals on and I am thinking that maybe, I might just treat myself, especially as I can't afford to put down the full amount right now.

Does anyone have any recommendations, advice or opinions??

welcome to the club..............

dont worry about the posts not making sense....they dont make sense to us either  :rollin :rollin :rollin ........iam still struggling with my stutter and am 90% sure its a carb problem,if you`ve been reading the thread you will know what ive been doing to try to trace the fault.....ive rebuilt the carbs with some second hand items and this has made no difference also checked the electrics and found nothing wrong.......as your a newbie i can strongly recomend that you get yourself a haynes manual you can find them on ebay.....manual no 3702....
start a new thread describing the fault and also what you have already tried and we shall try to help  :D

Well, to add my 5 eggs or whatever, I can tell you now, I have just had a whole new set of carbs put in, so that may not be what is causing it.

I do have a haynes manual, however, all of that doesn't make any sense to me either, and I don't have a garage to leave a project half finished, cos I live in London.

I am going to be going to Oval Motorcycle Centre though.

If I find anything, I will let you know.

Hi Guys,

I ALSO have a stuttering Fazer. I have been reading these threads, and to be honest, as a newbie biker, they don't make any sense to me cos I don't know what most of the things actually are.

Has anyone worked out why this is happening yet??
Mine has been in and out of the garage over the past 7 months with this problem, has had new air inlets, new seals, new rubber tube bits, and now, a new carb. STILL, bloody stutters, and I am running out of money.

I am tempted to sell, scrap etc etc cos I am at my wits end with this. It hasn't been a reliable bike and with only 26,000 on the clock I am incredibly disappointed.

Any advice (in basic newbie language) would be greatly appreciated. . . .

FZS600 Fazer / Headlight mods
« on: 29 May 2012, 11:13:09 pm »
Alright dudes.

I am thinking of mod'ing my headlights on me 2000 5DM Fazer, to make them, basically work.

I had a look at Angel Eyes, and also some extra fogs I can put on the side.

Is there anything I need to know?? Such as battery boosting, any particular products that will help make the battery perform well or any brand of road legal headlights, that are good, which won't kill the battery . . . .

Advice basically please would do me greatly.

I am gonna be getting the right bulbs though as talked about in Hot Poop . . . ..

Today a Big Issue seller at Muswell Hill, seemed to be having 'one of those days' where it was hot, people were being exceptionally rude and yet, he was jolly happy, polite and friendly. None of this crying bollocks, just very happy 'Hello, how are you"'s to people.

I gave him a couple of quid and offered him some food and drink on top of it, cos I thought he was so polite, and I didn't want everyone else to get him down.

I didn't buy an Issue though. I don't like it. . . .  :D

If I see another runner while I'm out jogging I try to let on and usually get a response but some of them are obviously above me and don't even make eye contact (they're usually done up in all the hi-glo and latex, I wear football shorts and other "non-running" clothing).

You can't run in a crash helmet . . . . :pokefun

I nod at cyclists.

They nod to each other, cos I used to be one, and the nod was a common thing. I still do if I see one cycling well, and not being a dick. They NEVER nod back.

Bikers mainly nod back, unless they are the police ones. I think they hate me . . . .

Scooters these days just seem to be driven by arseholes, who ride on the pavement, pop wheelies, and are basically dickheads.

Lorryists are OK with me. Cabbies and buses can take a run and jump . . .

This is  footage from the Drift x170. The only bad thing is you cannot link up a mic easily without affecting the waterproof ness of it. Same with the Contour HD i think.

The filter is also being replaced. I would hope that the mechanic would only put nice sealant in the tank. . . . . . I would hope . . .

FZS600 Fazer / Re: MPG
« on: 11 May 2012, 09:13:28 pm »
I agree with MCN as I get about 130 to 150 miles per tank. The times I've worked it out it's been about 35-40 odd mpg

I am mainly going from traffic light to traffic light in a city. Not much A road work or motorways.

I wonder if this is my riding style, the fact that pretty much all the riding I do is city based - or perhaps my bike is fucked in some way.

I am astounded (and jealous!) at claims of 60mpg plus..

I once had mpg like that. My bike was fucked.

I have zero mechanical experience (other than drums, I can fix drums) but otherwise I have zero, although I am going to remedy this by doing some courses.

It is going to be treated with an epoxy resin sealant, cleaned carbs, and new fuel filter.

£135 for the lot, plus they have lent me an ER6f for free.

FZS600 Fazer / Re: Clutch
« on: 11 May 2012, 08:00:50 pm »
Well the water keeps on getting in, and has caused the inside of the tank to rust, so that rust has got into the carbs, and basically ruined them. Despite the mechanic fixing the seal the last time to stop this happening.

This is the third time I have had to have the Carbs cleaned in 6months. . . . If the problem isn't solved this time around, then I think I might have to upgrade (which is a shame cos i love the (FAZER)

I bought the bike for £1150, seemed perfect. Since having it (6months) I have spent £735 on repairs.

The point of getting it was to save money, and I have basically spent every penny so far.

I am concerned that I won't save money in the long run if it keeps failing.

Actually, on further inspection, I have got water in the fuel tank and it has buggered up my carbs. I thought the garage had fixed it last time, but apparently not.

I thought it was the clutch going cos it felt similar to when my car clutch went at higher revs.

I have also booked myself onto a maintenance course at Oval Motorcycle Centre, so I can make a start on being to do my own bloody things, as this bike is getting expensive.

Would it be worth upgrading from an FZS 600 to a FZ6/FZ1 in a year or so????
