If it's not optimised, there ain't any point in having it - you're wasting money!

'But I'm sure you already knew that.'

Yes. But I do IT for a living. Badger asked for basic advice which implies he's not that familiar with the workings of a PC. Let's not get into a 'My PC is bigger than your's'.

Having had an optimised SDD for about a year, I probably wouldn't bother again unless they were cheap (got this one half price, but still more than a HDD which was working fine anyway), and mine gets a lot of use.

Goldfazer - yup my PC knowledge is limited, thats why I asked.i am competent enough to install an additional hard drive with a little bit of instruction. I didn't want to start WW3, but just ask if there were any pitfalls to look out for? My PC is 5 years old but still runs and performs OK and is adequate for what i use it for, I have nearly filled my hard drive and want some extra cheapish storage until i'm ready for a new pc / laptop. I dont really want to spend £80ish for a 1TB HD so looked at putting in an internal drive for between 20 40 quid.

Thanks for all the tips and advice. The PC is a few years old now but running ok for what i need from it. I just needed some more cheap storage space to keep me going until i'm ready to replace the pc completely. had also seen this one:

Not sure where to put this post, admin feel free to move.
I am looking to fit an extra hard drive into my home PC, running vista, and i would like the extra drive to act as extra storage for photos videos, music etc. I have had a look on the internet and picked up some advice but further advice on pitfalls what to look out for etc would be greatly appreciated.
thanks badger

thanks lawrence, made me a bit wiser :)  i couldn't fault my little 125 although it only ever had 10 minutes or so flat out. at least it wasn't too much of an expensive breakdown. enjoy your fazer  ;)

Jees  :eek  following on from breadlords comments, the damage looks horrendous, would it of been repairable ? i.e. source a new piston and valves etc or would the engine be totally fubar'd and the only economical solution to buy a complete new engine? mainly curious as i've have never stripped an engine down to this extent. Also what would of caused such an extreme failure? cheap parts, no oil, thrashing the balls off of it? I had many years ago a honda cg125 and the engine was bullet proof and outlasted the chassis and frame easily.

My twopenneth for what it is worth. I enjoy coming on the foc-u site for dedicated foc-u information and updates and think that these sort of updates and posts would get lost in a facebook page, just my opinion, badger.

« on: 28 April 2012, 11:07:46 am »
could be well off the mark as its more years than I care to remember since i had to pick up the Highway Code.[/size]But I always thought a dual carriageway was 70 so long as it had a Barrier central reservation. If not its a 60.

If the  dual carriageway is sign posted with national speed limit signs then it is 70mph whether there is a barrier or not. [if you are in / on your car / bike. if you are towing in a minibus, van , lorry etc then it is 60mph.
Confusing if you have several different modes of transport !!!!! :\

rocketman, there are a couple on here from that neck of the woods, west hallam and ilson, will sort something when this rain lets up a little, some good rides in derbyshire normally end up at matlock for a bag of chips or have some rides going through the vale of belvoir through melton mowbray to market harborough etc.

Hello again, I have finally got around to registering on the new website. I still have my fazer 600 and will be checking out the rideout section to hopefully meet up with some old faces and meet some new ones too.
I am in Nottingham and if anyone is interested in a run out anytime let me know ( i have a couple of decent local routes).
Cheers
Badger
